1998 srx600 intermittent tach and fuel gauge help?

does anyone have an idea why my tach and fuel gauge only work intermittently? i am going for a ride this weekend and don't want to get stuck on the side of the trail.,

sled runs fine.everything else works.

Check the wiring harness under the motor, the wires could be worn thru.
