I recently picked up an '03 viper with an 835 bender BB kit in it, and not to my suprise I burned the middle hole. Still not sure how bad it is, my question is has anyone ever put a NPV 700 into a viper chasis. I searched and found info on SRX motor swaps but not the old red top. I am thinking about doing this and selling the big bore kit and carbs ect... It will depend on what I find when I open her up. Any help would be awesome. Thanks Scott

just fix it. find out the source to why it burnt down...jetting, air leak, etc. then giver hell and ride past the arctic craps with a smile on your face. that 170+hp has to be awesome.

Also if I do decide to rebuild this 835 I feel I need to add some cooling, the sled has an ekholm tunnel with a good sized cooler at the back but I was wondering what else I could add to improve cooling. Was there not a full under tunnel cooler that polaris ran for a few years?? Again any help is great!!

If i was in your shoes right now, being this late in the season and the parts that you have already, I would call the this year a write off and take some time to do it right. i would take the top end off first and see the damage, (hopfully its just a piston and or rings) Then i would be talking to Mrviper, send him the top end and have him clean it up and work a little magic and that would be one wicked sleeper thats for sure

Anyone ever put a red top motor in a Viper? Yep, Yamaha, called a Venom.

It's true the 835 has cooling issues, however, as the extra cooling kit that Bender sells assists with the issues, the problem is in the motor itself. I modify the cooling inside the motor which balances out the temp across the cylinders.

So can this problem be solved with the opticool gasket or for a true fix is machining required?? If so does anyone have aprox specs, I'll search the site. I would assume if the guy that put the 835 kit in knew his stuff this would already be done. Thats the problem with buying pre-modded stuff. And yes 800 the venom....good call. So are the trip pipes any different or will any of the old ones fit into the viper chasis on the red top motor??

Thanx for your help all.

Scott

Thats always the problem with modded stuff, or was it sold because it had a problem. As well as who put it together, alot of good kits got bad names because of the installer. It should have the opti gasket in it, I don't think they ever made a gasket that wasn't, and was it installed correctly?

The 835 pipes will not work on a 700 red head motor. If you were gonna do the red head I would get a set of Aaen pipes for it. But, if you're gonna dump the 835, wouldn't it be easier to just put a 700 viper top end back on it? Alot less work, or is your motor broke that bad.

No the motor is not that bad...but I believe I can make nearly as much power with an old red top and have reliability.... viper just seem to cause more trouble, but I like the looks and ride so I thought about putting a red top in. I have a set of aaens triples from my old sxr...but will they fit in the viper chasis without butchering it?? Thanx alot guys

They will go in with a little help, they're not far off. Did that when I made a 700 Venom for a guy with Aaens
