I was wondering if anyone has changed a steering post on a 99 SRX 600 before, and i don't know if you have to take out the motor or not. I really hope I don't have to move it but I was wondering if someone could shed some light on the subject.

Thanks

well i have the motor out of my 700 now and can tell you unless you can hire a 5yr old to stick there tiny hands in there, your gonna need to move it.

^^^BUMP^^^

we have a new steering shaft ordered, but are still looking for any tips on replacing it. Really hoping not to pull the motor out since we don't have the clutch alignment tools.

^^also wondering. a buddy snapped his off this past weekend on his SRX. Any "easy" ways of going about it? I saw somewhere they sell a steering post stiffener that goes inside the shaft?? hes lucky it didnt happen in a corner

Weld a shaft inside your steering column and then weld on the broken half of it. It broke last winter on my 98 srx and you either remove the motor or start welding. Maybe someone from around here that lives close could loan you the alig. tool? :2strokes:
