I removed the caliper on my 89 ex570 because i pulled the chaincase and replaced the track. now when i try to put the caliper back onthe brakes are locked with both pads tightly against the rotor and the brake lever is fully released. my manual didnt help too much with the 89 setup which is different than the 87-88 setup. do i have to reset the caliper somehow when reinstalling it since it was removed? any help/pics would help.

i found the adjustment procedure in my service manual, it wasnt in the brake section it was in the maintinence section. thanks!

Take the self adjuster off, the part with the 2 small phillips screws, take the plastic wheel out and look down in the center where the wheel fits in, theres a slot, take a screw driver and back the slotted piece out till you free the brakes. Reassemble, pump the brake lever hard it will reset itself.

Someone pumped the brake lever while it was off. Also, the outside pad has a dimple on it which fits in a notch in the case which keeps it from rotating, make sure it is in the notch.
