What would go for if all were priced around the same ?
Seems like the srx is the fastest the viper in the middle all around and the nytro maybe new tech but is it a good sled for trail riding ?

Well, in my area the SRX and Vipers are neck in neck for the "Yamaha best bang for the buck." $2500 give or take will have you on a fairly clean Viper or SRX. Obviously stock the SRX is the winner in the power department, but falls behind the Viper in the suspension area. Seems you end up long traveling the SRX or tripleing the Viper to get the best of both worlds! I haven't seen any 06' Nytros for less than $5000 or so, but it doesn't seem like there are that many in my area. Great engine with all the 4 stroke benefits, but so so skid from my understanding. We considered one for my wife, but the techs at my dealer never had much great to say about the 06' Nytro. Buying a second Viper ended up being the best choice for us.

Hey quebec#1.
If this is going to be a trail sled my choice if all were the same price would be the Nitro, Gas and go and my favorite red light go, no waiting for about 10 minutes to warm it up your going to get better gas milage, and the shocks well there would be alot of ajustment than the viper or srx, resale valve will be better than the viper and srx. Now i know you have had a srx and a viper and your getting off the ZR900, if you are after some speed later on you can always install a supercharger and that thing is going to rip. The down side would be the people in your area knowing about it. then down the road you can watch for that cheap srx you've been wating for.
Oh and 1 last thing is the leg room, way more on the Nitro for those 250kms days which is killing me.

SRX = perma-grin
Viper = quiet and smooth
Nytro = new tech. but slow

Im sorry not trying to hijack but I have about the same question too. Just wondering you guys are saying that the four strokes are slower then the viper/ srx's?
It is slower. Not talking 4-strokes in general, just the 06 Nytro. In my opinion it is a dog. Especially on top end. I've run both my stock Viper and SRX against my friends Nytro and it is slow in comparison. Now, the Apex is a while different beast.
