i'd really like to know if the additive he tested thats supposed to be a race gas concentrate is the torco one:
http://www.jegs.com/i/Torco+&+Skull+Shine/763/6487/10002/-1
im also a non beliver of this kind of stuff, but have heard only positive from local guys that have tried it on cars and have nothing but good stuff to say about it. I'd really like for someone to test it out, searched but could not find anything.

Thats why i like stock engines/compression, because you just don't know
what your getting anymore, and who wants to hunt around all over town
looking for the best gas when out riding,at least with stock comp. your less likely to have a issue..

modifying motors is fine for the trail - but you have to keep compression low & add cooling capicity. the problem with most engine builders is they give more h.p. but never address the issue of cooling that extra heat generated by the higher h.p.. sure, if your drag racing you can use the stock system but not trail riding.
adding jetting to compensate for bad gas is not a fix either. the engine may live but it will be down on power & sluggish. thats not what we spend our $$ for. the simple solution is add cooling capacity. i've done a lot of testing with adding heat exchangers & it works!!!

cooling is the key...

What would you do to increase cooling on the Vmax-4? The thing already has a radiator on it! That is the sled I worry about, I've never had a problem on my piped 600 Vmax, but have had two instances with minor deto on my piped Vmax-4, would love to find a solution so I don't have to put it back to stock or have to run 100LL, we all know you can't find that out on the trail.

i would say remove your thermo stat for one..cut your coolant back to 40/60 mix...
not much else you can do on a v-4

After speaking with one of the bar owners on Tug Hill, I found out that several of the High-Test pumps on the hill are really only 87. She told me that the guy who fills the tanks told her that. It's just another way they make a few extra bucks up there. She also noted that a few places have been fined for non-compliance of min-octane ratings. This only adds to the proof that your not getting what your paying for.

WOW CHRIS. VMAX 4 HAD PROBLEY MORE COOLING CAPACITY THAN ANY SLED EVER MADE. TELL YA WHAT YOUR NEED TO DO. GET YOURSELF A 55 GALLON DRUM. AND FILL IT UP WITH 100 OCTANE DELTA SONIC. LEAVE IT RIGHT AT YOUR CAMP SEALED. WHEN YOUR THERE PREMIX IT WITH PUMP PREM. YOU WILL NEVER DETO AGAIN, AND YOU CAN RUN YOUR PIPES. 3:16 (yammie tony)Exciter570 said:What would you do to increase cooling on the Vmax-4? The thing already has a radiator on it! daman is correct - pull out the thermostat.
there was a co. called JAZ that made a tripple capcity radiator that fit in place of the stock vmx4 radiator. it helped but there is nothing better than a heat exchanger being hit with cold snow to cool the system down.

CHRIS, NO NEED TO PULL YOUR THERMOSTAT. JUST RUN THAT 100 OCTANE I BEEN TELLING YA ABOUT FOR THREE YEARS NOW. YOU DID NOT LISTEN TO ME LIKE THE REST OF THE EXPERTS AT vmax4.com AND DETO ON BIG MOOSE LAKE DOING A LONG PULL. 3:16 (yammie tony)

the problem is for guys running high compression in the trails is when you have to fill up in the trails on long rides to come back home. I have and use c12 mixed in my tank when i leave from here. But when i'm far away its not an option. Thats why id like for somebody with the ability to test the torco stuff to actually do so and provide us with numbers! I have the suff in my garage, but until i actually see some concrete stuff on it i wont use it lol.

TURBOR. CHRIS DOSE NOT HAVE A RACE SLED OR HIGH COMPRESSION. WHAT HE HAS IS A STOCK 97 VMAX 4 WITH BENDER QUADS ON IT. IS FAMILY HAS OWNED A AWSOME PLACE IN OLD FORGE NY FOR YEARS. THIS IS BASISLY A AREA THATS SURROUNDED WITH LONG FROZEN LAKES AND SMALL TOWNS. ITS 1800 F.T. UP IN THE ARIONDACK MTS SO YES GAS IS A ISSUE. ITS NOTING FOR THIS PLACE TO BE -25 BELOW AT NIGHT. HAVE TO BE REAL CAREFUL IF YOUR BUYING GAS THERE. HE RAN INTO A PROBLEM DETO A PISTON ON A LONG PULL LAST YEAR. WATER IN THE GAS WAS CULPRIT. GAS THAT HE HAD BOUGHT THERE. 3:16 (yammie tony)
