I have a 1983 V-max 540 with some parts from an original Bender sled bolted on it. It's not the original chassis, (it was junked a few years ago ), but it has the original pipes, carbs, rear suspension with "hole shot" lever, original track, but the studs are worn off. It is a stock motor, but I believe I have one of the original cylinders. the sled does run, but it needs work. Email me at darwinbemware@msn.com for more information. There are a few pics of this sled here http://www.adirondackmachines.com/VMAX540.html. Also it's not the original hood, just painted on. The original sled did have a black hood on it.

"hole shot" levers.... mechanical arm that forces the front of the skid down to the ice. once the sled moves ahead the arm is kicked back and the skid is allowed to be pulled back up inside the tunnel
Make sence.... you see them on all the more modern oval sleds. dont see it much at all in vintage
