Is it possible to get a stator rewound. If so can they upgrade it to produce a hotter spark?

Yes and yes. Not sure of any companies off hand that do it but yes it can be done.
There's one on Ebay that is doing them.

yup check ebay there was a guy doing it..
One company name is RMSTATOR.COM
Phone number is 1-877-838-1399 & 819-838-1395
They will put your wire harness on a new stater for $175 (Viper) and Yamaha will sell a new one for $210.00 plus tax
Not sure about hotter... If you go with RMSTATOR let me know I think I am going to need one sooner than later.

Thanks, I will give them a call colorado viper. I have a srx with a price 1000 that I am running a sx ignition and I may have a bad stator. I have'nt checked it yet but it seems that there is not sufficient spark at full throttle. Probabley enough for a stocker but not for a mod as cyclinder pressure is much higher. I figure if I have to replace it I might as well see if I can have it rewound so it is hotter.

Well I tested my coils and stator and they were within spec. The stator is supposed to read 210ohms +- 10%. It read 197 which is in spec. I have a sled that has a year old stator and it only reads 204. I don't know if it is enough for a mod or not. I put a different cdi on and I am going to try it this weedend.

I am sure you have thought of this already but, have you tried to get rid of all load not required...i.e. lights, warmers, etc. to see if tere is any effect.

Danger, what is your sled doing? Iantomasi had a problem on top end with their old 1000 srx at high rpm's, and it ended up being the rectifier/regulator.

Valin it has a rich sputter. No matter how you change the carbs it is still there. I even leaned them more than the day we had it on the dyno which it was 60 degrees that day. Should't need a rectifier regulator if you are not running accessories.
