What does everyone consider to be the better Viper pipes? Looking at overall; engine reliability, fit and finish, pipe durability, tuneability and power. I'm necessarily interested in maximum hp, but more in a good set of pipes with a reasonable hp increase.

Are the Hauck Hushers good pipes and do you know who makes them for Hauck?

Thanks,

Ken

I would definately go with SLP their fit and finish is awesome, and they make awesome power. Check out their site startinglineproducts.com

Love my SLP's. Look great under the hood and aren't obnoxiously loud on the trail like some others.

You are going to get a multitude on opinions on the one, CPR's, SLP's or Benders

MrViper said it best - CPR's seem to be one of the fastest, and SLP's seemed to be the best overall trail pipes

starting line products claims 20-25 hp increase with their pipes, you can get a free catalog mailed to you, i got one, loads of products in there....

its always best to do alot of research on pipes to see what your buying, after all, its your 600 bucks give or take....

i believe its 33hp gain they claim. i have the hauck hushers (actually aaens) and they sound great and really gave my viper more punch.

I like my slp's from o# to 45# never had a problem with fuel mileage 11mpg average and woke the sled up. The only thing I changed in jetting were the nozzles which richened it up in the mid range where when you pipe these vipers they seem to have their problems, 4,000 miles on pipes no rebuild yet and loving this rice burner as every one says until they look and can't believe this thing could run so good on rice? Total 6500 miles on sled no rebuild go figure. Go with slp's jetting chart but go with bigger nozzles you wont be sorry ran yesterday and today with my 13 year old son and he is on and off the flipper and I only took 2 gallons more than him in a 140 mile run we switched sleds half of those miles. 1500' above sea level and an average of 30# plus in temp we ran no bull crap, was surprised myself.

I'm sorry I was on my 03 rx1 and he took 2 gallons more than me with his viper but than again the zr 900 we were with was a half a tank lower than we were I averaged that sled same conditions to be at no more than 6 mpg. I got to take it for a ride they run good but he hesitated to line up. I let him ride both yamahas and I think they could give him a good run but to me those twins are hard to judge.

I didn't know you could change those as I thought you just changed the needles or raised or lowered them. I'll have to look into that.

I've got SLPs on mine. tones of power, but it really likes the fuel. Best so far has been 8mpg, but I ride a lot of rail beds and lakes.

sure the brass nozzles come out easily. just unscrew the main jet, lift up on the throttle slide and push on the nozzle from the bottom (where it would stick into the float bowl area) and it will come up towards the throttle slide. the throttle slide will have to come out i believe to change the nozzles.

MOPAR1RULES IS RIGH ABOUT NOZZLES! Sorry didn' check back on this post until today. 8 mpg thats hard to believe not that I'm calling you a liar,I have bigger nozzles now remember I did this in 02 I think and they were I believe for colder temps one stage up from what I needed and needle set to there recomendation ifI used stock nozzles. I got the chance to run my stock pipe for awhile and this sled running pretty hard would get 14 mpg stock the worst I've seen with pipes were 10 mpg heavy wet snow. I do however have a hdn-20 weights in it but with slps recomended set up with stock weights I was still running around the same mpg.

I wrote things to fast as I'm looking back on my replies. what slp recommends in your area for jet size use in my case they run pretty safe unless you want to play with jets in different conditions. I used there jetting chart for my riding area and the only thing I changed was to richin up mid range with nozzles and used there clip position as if I were using what they recommended with the pipes. People on the four stroke side will tell you that I do hold it open for a long haul on lakes then back off all of a sudden with no problems so far and its been awhile running pipes. To be honest I do let off and on the throttle on a looong pull to cool it down when I,m thinking about going kaboom!!! It's hard and I forgot a few times when I was reeling someone in and stupid got the best of me but never had a problem so far. Slp gives you their jetting specs go with that and richin up mid to be safe lose alittle but gain alot of less headaches and money. If it were up to me I would go back to stock at the time and changed my track with a predator track and would still have good fuel mileage but now I'm screwed because my son loves the pipes (sound, power)I do to but I don't drive it that much and the fuel prices well you know.Iguess I'll suck it up because I started it and if he likes it that means he enjoys going out with his old man now and again.
