Another 1 of Yamaha's great engineering flaws !! Why wouldn't they make the exhaust with a flange on the pipes??????? I can't believe some of the STUPID shit you have to deal with on these sleds. I was on the lake today cleaning house !! I mean this "little 700" was on a mission ! All of a sudden my RPM's start to drop off and the exhaust started getting louder and louder. Sure as shit there goes another exhaust doughnut !! 2nd one this season.......WTF
Sorry about the rant again but it just seems everytime i get this thing working right something else messes up. Not to mention when looking into the price of these things ...$26 EACH....OUCH !!!!$$$$$$$$$

Yamaha has to make money somehow.I replaced 2 this season already.I yet installed all 3 new since Feb/07.The pipe has to be tight against the donuts. Mine were not right up against 2 donuts tight. So I trimmed the pipes at the other end by 1/8 to 1/4" so it can go ahead into the can inlet and that brought exhaust pipe to header tighter to the donut and they don't rattle themselves away.I picked up 3 extras for next year already, but only paid like $18 each incl shipping from a dealer in the states.Saved some money this way.I order basically everything from a supplier states side from now on.I picked up 4 OEM belts from Rich and saved myself like $35 a belt times 4.You figure that out.I also ordered new springs for the exhaust because I think they stretch after time and keep the exhaust pipe tight against the donut.MY 2 CENTS!!!!!
I think my fittings changed a bit after I loosened the motor and re-aligned the clutches.

Some guys will ride around with loose springs and pipes that wiggle because they have not inshured the muffler fits properly or the pad over the shock tower has worn down.Thats why there is a dounut!

don't you just hate that sound of the exhaust when the donut is totally gone.Sounds like an old truck with a cracked manifold.YUK!!!!

Yes the sound sucks. I actually took the spring off in the front that pulls down on the middle pipe. I found that if you let the pipes move with the motor it's a little more forgiving. It's just a few stupid things about this sled that annoy me. Other than that it ROCKS !! Just went 112 mph on the gun today !
