hey for all you viper riders out there,im looking for a unbiased opinion on these vipers compared to a 98 srx.performance, ride, servicability?i found a 03 with a blown motor that seems like a fair deal(1000),and am considering for a off season project.the owner says he was riding it one day and it kinda coughed, sputtered and died.he took it to a dealer and they told him it needs all 3 cylinders.it has 1900 miles any thoughts?

i just read about your cooler!that sucks, ever consider bypassing that one and adding one in the back or a nose cone rediator?

I already have a rear cooler, I'm not sure if I want to mess with it, its been a very reliable sled, I just pick up a used cooler & I don't mind wrenching on it...looks like I'll be getting it on the trail soon again...looks like another 10cm of the white stuff heading our way...

vipers are great sleds. if you decide to pass on it could you pass on the information about to me. i may be interested if you don't want it

Id like to get in line also!

ok ill tell ya what im going to inspect it real good on saturday and ill let you guys know.can you think of anything that might cause all 3 to let go?lets what the stealership said to the man.he has no idea about it other putting gas and oil in it so he cant tell me much.thanks

i suppose if it wasn't getting oil that could easily wipe out all three at the same time. check for crank damage if you can also. usually if cylinders go out metal fragments can get in the crank and mess it up.

Play it smart, try & rotate the engine with the primary, not the pull cord...that way if its not seized it may still be a cheap rebuild...once you get it home, post some pics of the sled & engine bay...will talk you through some thing to do before you fire it up & do more damage...find out what it did just before it died...was it sunk in a lake, just neglected or badly abused...if the head has changed color than that means its been overheated real bad...you will know if its rough...keep us posted...
