what are the major differences besides the spring/helix setup in these two secondary clutches? is the exciter II clutch a larger diamater? and i think it takes a wider belt? could I set up an exciter II clutch to work on a 89 exciter? and are the helix and springs interchangable from the exciter II to the 89 exciter secondary? anyone know what the stock helix is in a 89 exciter? have a brand new spring and helix from a 93 SX and want to put it n my 89, but i don't know if i'll be able to without switching to a exciter II secondary. :letitsnow

the helixes look the same but the back of the 2 helix is machined at the area where the circlip sits fot the wider belt, the 2 clutch is bigger and is set up for the wider belt, so no it will not work, you can use the helix with .100 washers behind the clip to compensate, what you really need is the ex2 primary and belt. The ex uses a 45 deg helix and the 2 had a 39 or 42, the ex sx uses a 39.

i have a 108c primary so technically i could put the spacer in that and just run the wider belt

OK do that, then, take your 89 helix, machine .100 off the flat area of the helix where the clip sits, then put it and your 89 spring in it, actually use the pink secondary spring if you have one, wrap it at A2 or C2, put an 89L belt on it, put the shim in the 108. The best thing you could do for that sled would be to find a 95-6 vmax secondary.
