Wishing for snow!
Hey guys,
I was wondering where I would go to get my PI stingers repacked? Or Can i do it myself? What would I repacked them with? I have all the tools available to me in our schools auto shop!
Let me know, Nik!

Why are you wanting to repack? Too loud? Mine appear to be tack welded together. I don't think there is anything in the stingers anyway. But I have been wrong before.
btw.... Your fuel mileage sucks? Mine is real easy on fuel compared to my 600.
I don't know if the same holds true for 2 stokes as it does for four but, on my kerkers for my bike if you repack the them they are actually louder. Them have baffles in them though.

Well Inside the stinger there is a mesh, That should be holding something in. My mesh is all faling apart. They have gotten sooo much louder then when I first put them on. I LOVE it, don't get me wrong. but the guys I ride with first said they love it too, but by the end of the day, it got so loud (to them) they wanted to kill me!

You can buy the fiber glass mat at dennis kirk. I think Aaen sells the wire mess and glass mat.

You are absolutely correct. For s%*ts and giggles I looked in the only one I could see in and found this.
It appears that mine are broke also. All the packing has blown to the bottom.

^^ LOL, you just took that photo? You went out for the hell of it and did that, LMAO!!!!!!!!
That funny. But yeah Last time I looked in mine, I seen the mesh has broken into like 8 pieces (Length wise) And all the packing is gone for a shit. I actually love the sound of it now, But I want to keep some riding partners, LOL!

I don't mind the sound at all if I was to ride by myself. Actually I like it if I'm with a bunch of guys hotdoggin' around for the afternoon. But, as you said I don't think I would like to ride it for a weekend on the trails. She really barks if ya get near a snowbank and the sound echos back to you. Like going down the side of a road with a bank along the edge.
I hear tell of a canister style muffler that was made for these. Anyone confirm that?

Yes power inc. made a canister just like bender does. But it only fits the stock style pipes, Not my aftermarket style pipes that are made for a stinger.

Do you have center or end dumps?

I am pretty sure the srx's only had end dumps.

Yea fleet man, he's running SRX pipes which are the same as any other pipe (not the centre dumps). I was running PI End Dumps on my 600sx triple before I got my SRX and I got the pipes ceramic coated with both the stingers AND the 3 into 1 canister silencer. The 3 into 1 was great for trail riding... much quieter but still sounded great... it was a lot heavier than the stingers. I think it might have been richierich who told me that only three to five were made before they got out of the pipe business. The pipes hauled the mail... but I found that when deep snow riding that the exhaust would plug up like it does with the stock exhaust and would bog down pretty good... once I put the stingers on you could ride through the deep stuff all day without a hiccup.

PS 98700, with your SRX fuel mileage thread, my stock 2000 SRX 700 is getting right around 200 km/tank (or 125 miles) on a normal day of trail riding aggressively... messing around in the ditches and the field it drops like a rock.

Actually mine did the bogging in the deep stuff with the stingers. Of course that was a foot deep too though.

Yeah "change_up" I was getting about 130-140 miles to a tank before all my mods. But I will try for 10MPG!!!
