I just finally got the Peak head I bought installed and the PTO and Center cylinders are leaking between the dome surface and the cylinders. I used brand new head gaskets so it is not the gaskets causing it. I torqued it in the proper sequence with a Snap On 3/8" torque wrench too (17 ft. lbs). I started it last night and let it run for like 5 minutes then shut it off until tonight, then tonight I went to go ride it and noticed that it had sat there and leaked, so I checked the torque and it needed re-torqued, I thought (hoped) that was all that it needed. Yeah right...
I took it for like a mile ride (after torquing the nuts again) and when I got back I could see that anti-freeze was running down the front of the cylinders. Has anyone ever had warped cylinder tops? I have had problems with getting my head gaskets to seal even with the stock head. I tried the head gasket mod using the 2 outer layers and it never would seal, so I got a set of Hauck gaskets and it finally sealed up but I don't think they totally sealed because the level in the overflow jug kept going up. Like it was leaking combustion gases into the system.
Something is jacked with this thing. I'm about ready to take a cutting torch to the whole outfit.
What do you guys think? I also checked the torque on the nuts again too after I got back from the ride and they were still tight. So it wasn't from them loosening or anything like that.

Did you check them with a flat edge. If they are warped they won't seal. The domes and the jugs need to be checked. Maxdlx

No I didn't check them. I don't have a straight edge. I have a cousin that's a machinist though, so I'm gonna try to borrow one from him.

What happens when you have to have them "decked" or milled? I have my "squish" exactly where I want it now. If I have the heads milled then it will be too tight. I don't want to use a thicker or 2 base gaskets like I've read people doing. That will defeat the purpose of doing all of this to begin with won't it?
Maybe I'll just try to get 3 new cylinders over the summer.

Well I know what I'll do. I'm using .020" gaskets so I'll just have the heads milled .008" and then use stock Yamaha head gaskets (as long as the stock head gaskets really are .028" like I've been told). Then I'll still have the same "squish" as I do now.
