Hello Group,
My neighbor's ET400 long track (1990) siezed the engine solid. Rumour has it that they were not a good engine, but I am not strong on Yammi's.
1. is that true?
2. what engines will bolt in? Clutching/gearing and carburation aside, will a 340 or a 485 bolt in?
Just looking for options...
thanks!

a et340 motor will bolt right in there. just needs different clutch weights.
the only 340-400/410 motors i have seen with problems where the ones that sat and crank seals where bad or they where sunk. sounds like he had an oil pump pack in.
the 400/410 is based off of the 340 motor with larger bore.
there is a site member near you that took a 410 out of an enticerII and put in a ss440 or phazer motor in his. might still have the motor around. i think he works at the yamaha dealer in espanola and drives a viper now. cannot remeber his site name but i think he is yamahammer485's buddy.
hope i helped.
btw how much milage on the motor before it seized?

The 400 is a good engine as far as I know.
the 400's were problem children. yamaha rta's came and spent a week solid to figure why they were burning down at the d-ship i worked at and never really figured it out. it would burn down within 100 miles. 340's were bullitproof, i would go with 1 of those.

i have 5000km on mine, so i want to know the milage to watch for.
not all of them was problem maim, but if you had one that kept blowing up and there was a lot of them, they just could not figure what was wrong. tom parr was the rta that was troubleshooting the problem. yamaha ended up giving a 410 et to the man i believe.
