I found an m-10 locally for a decent price. Under $600 for supposedly an "updated" m-10. Does that sound like a good deal? I primarily ride groomed trails but we all know those turn bad most of the time in NLP or even the UP. I thought my pro-action with viper shocks was good on the trails this year. Do I just save the $ and live with it cause it's not bad and I just want to get my sled running again.

That's a very good deal IMO if everything is tight and in good condition. They normally go for about $800... I don't know what's meant by updated, but if it means it's a 2001 and newer model then ya it's a good price. You would love the ride of it in the bumps compared to your pro-action, but not the weight transfer... you can still get the skiis about 2" in the air if you try really hard with it, so it's not that bad. Overall the skid is 10x better than stock and is still the smoothest suspension I've ridden. So far i've only rode a firecat, rev, rx warrior, 600sx with m-10 (mine), and SRX with Expert X (also mine). The two best riding suspensions were the Expert and the M-10, with the Cat skid following, then the rev, then the warrior. That's my opinion. The M-10 was leaps and bounds better in the bumps than every one and slightly edged my Expert. The cat skid was close. For $600 i would go m-10 in a heartbeat, but i'm also known to spontaneously spend my money on stuff I don't really need lol.

After working with a pro-action and reading about an m-10, and the original price of the m-10 I would say it is a real good deal. I've considered buying a new m-10 to fix my buddies '01 SRX.
I think it would be worth the NEW price just to be able to keep the skis on the ground.

I ride a 03 viper with a 04 M-10, love it & a friend has a 02 srx with a 05 Expert-X, awsome skid...transfers better than a M-10, IMO. but you can make the M-10 transfer with shorter blocks...

Yes you can cut the transfer blocks on it. It will sacrifice a little bit of ride quality apparently... but I never really noticed much difference. It did help the transfer, It was enough to take the skiis off the ground slightly which is all you need really, anything else is no benefit but the fun factor.

$600 is good for an 01 and newer, although I occasionally see them go cheaper on Ebay. I would think that yours is a really early standard or the 96-00 metric that has been updated. I bought a 136" last year on Ebay for about $350 with most of the Yamaha mount kit. It came out of a Venture and had almost no use, so there are some deals out there. If it doesn't have the mount kit you need, it's not a good deal - a mount kit will run you around $220 plus shipping. The 2001 and newer has the beefed up coupler blocks and there are alot of cutouts in the rails as a reference for determining what M10 it is.
