I have a 1998 V-Max 600 and the rollers in the primary clutch were completely gone in 400 miles. I put put new weights and rollers in and the rollers are shot again in 300 miles. Can anyone help with this? This sled has always been tough on weights, mainly when clutching for the mountains. By the way the sled has 8000 miles on it.

I went through the exact same thing and finally put a brand new Comet clutch on mine($212.00 complete). The only thing I did not replace on my factory clutch was the cap and sliding sheave bushings so my guess would be that these have to be replaced to prevent premature wear on the rollers and weights. It was easier and less expensive for me to just go with the new Comet. I really got sick of replacing those roller bushings!!! If your gonna stick with the factory clutch, I would go ahead and order a "complete" rebuild kit instead of replacing those "expensive" parts one at a time.
