Removing the top gear

Boys I'm in need of some help here...I'm in the process of gearing down my 04 Viper and I cannot figure out how to remove the top gear....how do you remove the nut without the shaft spinning aroud?? How do you guys do it? Thanks!

You use the brakes...

yep...put the park brake on and if needed push the brake lever as well.
