i been chasing my tail on this one for 2 seasons now. i got a good tune tune on it, it screws up to 70 pretty quick at 7000 rpms, at thats it . it doesnt seem to shift, and wont change at any throttle
i notice a rattle noise, when i accelerate. i just replaced my secondary spring, belts are aligned, i put new rollers in the primary, on a stand it seems like the clutches are working good. tors bypassed, good compression, track spins free, plugs are tan. last year i cleaned the carbs at least 20 times with air compressor and carb clean. replaced crank seals couple years ago. im going to pull my fuel filter in a few and check that.
when i replaced my crank seals, i also did a port job on the jugs. i took the lip off the intake, thinking that might be a problem? i need help...

How much more you think it should go, I have a 1990 with psi pipe, clutched, airbox out, pod filters, flatslide carbs, stock track and skid, no port job yet and I can hit 80 on a good day....I don't thinl 70 is that bad since you are stock, but I could be wrong is my first year with a phazer...

I think that's all your going to get with a stocker.

well its not stock, its .40 bored, wiscos, dre pipe, boysen 2 stage, geared, i have had it at 90 + before the crank seals. it had to be hitting 8000 sounded nice, like i said it doesnt seem to have that shift once i get to 65 70 ish. what rpms are you guys running at?
i one thing i did not do is mic my clutch bushings. i think whatever the problem is has to do with my rattle noise. maybe its the weights...? how are the trails in avon silversnow?

what did you change the gearing too? if you lowered the gearing to give it more low end you will lose some top end.

the gearing was changed b4 i got it off a buddy. he fried a piston and sold it to me. so am i on the right track with the primary bushings? anyone run into that? After last night i dont have any motivation to go out there and tear it down. lost a bogy wheel, cover broke off the handlebar, and my seat tore off lol....it was funnnn

well started tear down to replace wheel, found that all four upper wheels were frozen solid with ice , like they hadnt moved at all my whole ride last weekend. they spin just not too easy?, found one that had a flatspot, like it was stuck last year too. could this be my problem? really dont have the money them all..

The pipe has to match the engine mods and the clutch has to be tuned to match the engine RPM's. See if you can get any information on the pipe - if it will work well with the engine mods. You would have to dyno the engine to see where the horsepower peak is. If the clutching does not match the HP/RPM, you could be losing a lot of power.

i know that pipe worked good before port job and crankseals. also it was never this quick off the line before porting. i drag my buddys xc 700 and am right next to him up till 70.... tried searching for info on that pipe,,,,got no where..
im imagining the power band is increased, so what would i have to do to get more rpms out of my clutch? i got a white spring in it , i engage at 4000. stock weights.

I know what your experincing when you say its not shifting , mine is the same way . Ive got a 96 phazer and tops out at 65-70. It doesnt shift when you pull the throttle wide open .
