Looking for ideas or experiences that might help me figure out why I have a continual overheating problem. Two Yammy dealers haven't come up with anything, and I don't need to put their kids through college trying things that don't work.

I get anywhere from 3-7 miles out riding easy and I will see the temp light flash. If I catch it immediately and shut down it won't blow coolant and makes what I would call describe as a geyser ready to blow. Even a few extra seconds and it will blow out the cap. I have seen the coolant cycling through the reservoir so I know the pump works and have felt that the board coolers are getting warm. Sometimes I can let it cool for a few minutes and go another 3-7 miles and other times teh temp light flashes almost immediately after starting out (1/4 to 1/2 mile).

I have bled the system (along with the dealers) numerous times, replaced the thermostat, replaced the coolant tank and cap, pressure test the cooling system.

I am hating going out to ride for the weekend and having to ride the backup MXZ that was my kids before he grew up ughhh..

Is it possible this is an impellar that only fails when hot? Maybe a head or gasket that's injecting air into the system when hot?

Any help appreciated..

there were some problems with the brass waterpump drive gear on the crankshaft spinning on the crank after the motor gets warmed up good

Is it possible that there is a blockage somewhere in the system? You could disconnect the hoses going to and from the engine, connect them to a garden hose and see how much water flows through the heat exchangers. You would have to take the thermostat out of the circuit of course. Just because you see the coolant moving in the tank doesn't mean there is enough coolant moving. Do you see the coolant moving just before the temp. light comes on?

It does seem like sometimes when it overhaeted the exchangers were cold like there was not fluid circulating. Saturday it seemed like they were warm but not as warm as they are when it's working right. I am now thinking of going after the drive gear on the crank if there have some that fail when hot. That type of job is probably over my comfort so I'll get to spend some serious $$$$ I'm sure.
