If my 08 vector is suppose to be a trail sled why cant i carry anything on the trail but my butt? Come on no accesories for this sled look at the Yammy web pages and theres nothing there. No luggage, no clothes.. t shirts, no goodies and the Vector hats r the ugliest out of the lineup. All the other sleds have all kinds of stuff. We also have some back country out here thats a blast to sled in but there sure as heck are no filling stations out there. No way to haul xtra fuel. Been using some cheap aftermarket bags but theyre falling apart already. Seems if we dont have a Nytro or a touring we dont exsist. Hate to whine but include all of the sleds when doing some brainstorming

I know the rear mounted muffler takes up room, but there has to be some way to add a trunk somewhere as std equipment.

In my opinion, I am not sure Yamaha is happy making sleds any more. Engines seem to be modified street bike engines, suspensions minus the mono are similar to what the other makes are running, zero to very little storage, no two-strokes, poor engine cooling, no smaller displacement engines for the kids/beginners.

I think they are interested in making sleds..but leaving too much of the traditional sled buyers wants/ and needs in the dust.. Thats my gripe..

The Apex and Attak stuff should fit your 08, since they went rider forward on that sled much of it should crossover.

some of the older bags wont fit proper because the clips on the bottom of the bags use to clip onto the foot rails. dont reach anymore. nowhere for xtra fuel which is my main concern. other than that i enjoy the ride

Dump the exhaust under the tunnel then mount a rack and bag on the back. That's what I did using the Skinz Universal set-up. ;)!

Here you go..........

I took the OEM muffler out and cut both stacks off. I then used a hole saw to drill two new holes on the bottom, outside edge of the muffler. I welded the two stacks into these new holes then used the plugs that I cut out of the muffler to cap the original holes on the back.

This by-passed a set of chambers in the muffler so it flows better, and since it now dumps out the bottom you don't really notice it's a little louder when your on it, just beside it. The rack and bag are Skinz Gear, the "Universal" kit.

That is very cool, congrats on the out of the box thinking!!

I (we) have about 500 miles on this mod. No overheating issues with the sled or rack bag and we use the extra storage now for my wifes avy, survival, and spare gear. It's taken all that weight off her back which has been a big plus. It's her sled, for the most part, as I like to flog my Viper. We seem to get another MPG out of it also and it sounds like no other; cool! ;)!

No real talent involved and minimal tools! This was more out of desperation. After finding out that nothing would cross over to this sled that dumps the exhaust off to the sides (like Apex), moto-muffler retrofits were noisy, turn-outs are a major burn and/or cut-injury issue, I came up with this. No more black crap dumped from the pipes onto the top of the tunnel either.

I used a cheap hole saw in my drill, a hacksaw, and a little 110v wire-feed welder. The rack and bag were less than $200.
