Hello,
I just swapped my 01 SRX chassis with a 03 RX1 suspension. I have added a widening kit to the front end to compensate for the height increase in the back. The cost for the kit and the re and re of the suspensions is 490.00 cdn.
The front end widening kit will offer 3 clicker settings to adjust the height. The guy that owns the RX1, wants to race his sled and feels that a flatter suspension will help his cause. I weigh around 220 lbs and have been dying to modify the suspension on my SRX.
I have enjoyed smoking 800s in the flats, but have always had trouble keeping up in the nasties. I ride very aggressive and will usually sacrifice the body to led the pack.
Anyway, I hope the extra travel will provide more comfort and save my spine from periods of full compression
Pictures to follow..
Any comments

what kind of front end kit are you talking about, how wider does it make it and how much, i just finished getting my SRX 700 long travelled and because of the set in on the rear spring i only looking at little higher than stock, but i the price is right i might consider it.........Reaper
Don't quote me - but I believe YMP is using Max. Performance. I guess by your handle you live in New Liskeard - wicked trails. My buddy and I did a loop that started in New Liskeard - Cochrane - Hornepayne - Duberville (spelling) - Timmins - New Liskeard...what a ride - a little cold on the SRX (stock windshield) but that sled is made for those trails.
I will send you the official specs. on the sled when the work is done. Keep in mind the sled sets up stock with 7 in front 8 in back - by adding 11.5 in back the front should take on a similar stature to the Viper in the front. The last thing you want is to catch an edge and flip the sled over. The other reason to raise and widen the front is to prevent a snowplowing affect in deep snow ( > 1 ft )
Cheers

Another thing to watch, is your ski runner pressure. Raising the rear of the sled will put pressure on the fronts of your skis, resulting in a darting situation. It's an super easy fix with some shim material, check out my article in the Tech Page, The Skinny on Darting.
A long travel SRX...a sweet ass machine! *vmj drools...*

Hey John, i had taken your past advise and picked up a set of ski savers and (i forget his name) included like 4 sets of shims, all installed and i see way you mean, the ski now sit up a little in the front, as for the riding height in back, i never did measure the old set up at bumper but i was told i should not be that much higher than stock, i also went with Ohlins extensions which add 1/2 inch in height but overall increase in travel of 1 inch so i think i will be ok......
to sledder... did you buy kit in Ontario, from who?
New Liskeard trails rock!, we did a trip last year from just outside Kirkland Lake straight to Hearst in one day over 500km, just wicked, long, wide, fast trails.....Reaper

That kinda milage is easy to do in the Great White North!hehe
I've been told that Maxximum and Pioneer tune in more sit in than what the factory does. This is just to keep unseen problems at bay, and to provide a nice cushy ride.
I'm not sure how wide you guys are talking, but that alone increases ski travel. Be patient with your tuning, and you'll wind up with a sweet riding sled!

The srx (or old sx's) front shock brackets allow the ft.suspension to go from 7" to: 7.5"first hole,7.75 2nd hole , 8.5" third hole. Had some on my 2000 srx.I got mine from hauck power sports- made a big diff- made the sled more"level" after I long traveled the rear. Also do what vmaxjohn said too! shim the ft. ski bumpers!- Thank you vmaxjohn that helped mine and my dads sled!-I hate a sled that darts!!!!

Ok, i am a little confused, are you guys talking about widening kit or long travel kit, because i looked up at Maxx Perf and they have a widening kit that will put ski stance at 41 & 1/4, but i see you might just be talking about bracket that increases travel, i have gone with Ohlins extensions, i know guys like Atlas has gone to this set up with long travel rear, could someone advise as i do have Ontario dealer who could get me the Maxx kit at a pretty good price............Reaper
