I have a 250 yamaha, sitting on my work bench, with the letters/numbers on it. Can anyone tell me the year of it?

The S246 motor was used in the 1974 GP246. I'm not sure if that model was continued in '75

The reason I asked, is for a clutching issue. I have a 78 enticer 250, and its a race sled, only clutch I can run is the stock 78, splined shaft setup. I was told, a 80 or newer crankshaft would work in the race motor. Thus I could us a comet clutch. The 250 single on my bench, has a yamaha clutch on it, looks just like one that was on my 78 440, 77 340 ex, and my 79 et 340. (just the outer covers slightly different). So I was hoping it was a 30mm crank. ThanksGP292Racer said:The S246 motor was used in the 1974 GP246. I'm not sure if that model was continued in '75

Well some of the '74-'75 250 and 292 cranks have the removable splined shaft. If you remove it, you're left with a conventional stub shaft. If that crank has that setup, it might be worth investigating to see if that crank will fit in your other motor. I've never had an ET apart so I'm not sure how they compare.
