89 Ovation Carb Spec's

I tore apart most of the carb last night on the ovation motor I have at my house. The pilot jets were #70's and not the #72's that are in the manual. I also noticed that the pilot screw were not at the 1 3/4 turns per the manual. The left was at 3/4 of a turn and the right was 2 turns.

I didn't notice any demarkation on the main jets. I had a couple of issues with screw heads so I didn't get everything apart so it's all soaking. There's alot of varnish/deposits coming off.

Could these setting be right?

Also on the sled this motor will be going into, my uncle-in-law thought that the air box was probably gutted by the guy who they bought it off of back in 89. Supposedly this guy's solution to make these sleds faster was to put a bunch of holes in the airbox.

Would I be better off patching the holes/rebuilding the baffles? Was this a common technique?

I saw the main jets wer different too. One is a 126 and the other 130. I didn't notice which was which when I took them out. Wish I would have!

Does anyone have jetting info? Why would someone have had this mix?
