Is it true, that they stop grooming after the 15th of march? This is one of the best late season conditions i've ever seen. Looks like we might get 2 or 3 weeks more riding, and it would be shame if trails weren't groomed!

I've heard that too, and for what it's worth The Klondyke trails (Markdale and surrounding area) groomer hasn't been out since the 12th. One of them parks where I work.... but I have never really asked the operator when they officially stop grooming. Is there really that much snow left in Barrie? I was in Collingwood on Saturday and the trails were worse off than here just south of Chatsworth... but I still went for what i'm sure will be the last ride of the year.
Stittsville (the BEAST) will pay you $14/h if you'd like to groom. I think that is a rule of thumb, not true cut off. That said I don't expect to see any groomers out there. Most have just given up.

I am not a Canadian, but have done a lot of spring riding in Northern Ontario. In Districts 13, 14, 15, 16 they groom as needed until the trails officially close, which depends on conditions and is different every year.. I know a few that continue after that in certain areas. Have ridden in April a number of times, especially in the Dubre area.
I am guessing that you are farther south, and I don't know about those areas.

Anything north of Barrie is still good! We got a tonne of snow this year in Muskoka. Lakes make me a little nervous though, I think this has been the worse year for ice conditions for as long as i can remember.

On my 2001 ported SRX i have close to 3000kms, I never looked after the weekend could be more. On my 2000 SRX there is close to 1500kms for the year, not all ridden by me. My young lad and freinds put about 750kms and i have done the rest. Lots of money spent on Gas this year
clubs will groom until they can no longer.. many will shut down after this weekend, but that will mainly be to the south I suspect.
there is lots of snow and ice. no worries on the lakes up north at all. we have over 2 feet on our lake so you're not going through lol
grip it and rip it!!! this is the best march riding I've ever seen!!!!!!

Trails are still being groomed from new Liskeard north and they are amazing. Unless it rains there will be awesome trails for three more weeks. And the best part is...no one is on them!
Enjoy!

Yammer and Snowrules let me know i want to come out with you boys
I think we'll be up in Sharbot Lake this weekend, so I’m not sure how feasible that is for you. My leash is pretty short this year with the little guy only being 3 months old, but I’ll see what I can swing. If my parents heading up to their place that helps a lot as my wife can pass him off. Guess I could also invite my mother-in-law up to maximize my seat time, lol. Let see what SNOW says about the conditions first.BenderSRX said:Yammer and Snowrules let me know i want to come out with you boys

Well... the groomer WAS out on the rail bed yesterday! I was almost ready to go for a spin when I suddenly had a bit of a nap and then it was time to go to work today lol. On the plus side... we've got about 6" here since about 10 am and i'm stuck here at home being it's too dangerous to put any steel up... too windy and slippery up top. maybe i'll go for a spin today??
