what is the max height i can go on my o2 viper on handlebar risers with out adding cable extenders? I know there was a post on this last year but i did a search and didn't find it.
I have a 2" in my SX-R and that about max but I had to remove the bracket loop that hold the cables in a group by the handle bar mount

MrSled is right, 2" is the biggest you can go before running into problems with cables being too short.

I had a 2" on my 2000 SXr but figure I've got room for more. The cables were still slacked. I didn't even have to reroute anything with the 2".
I now have a powermadd pivot adapter which accounts for 1.25" and will get the 2" rise on top of that. I know it's going to be tight but I think I will get away with it. However, I've also got the handle bars as far forward as I can for powder riding which slacks the cables a bit.
Will know in a couple of weeks if it works.
If you want to know how much room you've got, just unsrew your handle bar mount and lift the bars up as much as you can. Then measure how much room you've got!
No one has managed a 3" rise with stock bars and cables?

the problem is you may get the room to put in a 3" but when you turn the sled it really yanks on the cables and the throttle cable...

Pulls on the throttle and other cables, how bad is the brake line pulled? Could I get away with a just a throttle ext and not a longer brake line?

You'll probably want to install an extension on your brake line as well. Those stainless extensions look sweet.
the brake is short too.....sorry about that...Like Mountian SX-R said, take the bolts out and look at what needs to be rerouted and then you will see how short the throttle and brake line is.

If brake lines too short, what are your options. Exts or new cables are how much and where can you get them?
after market brake line is the only option I know of , ext or new cables from Mountian Performance, Maxx Performance, The Speed Shop....any of those places should have them or can get them. If your going to pay to extend, I would take it to exact hieght you want....but the 2" riser is without a dout the easiest change with no mods to any cables.

I'm ordering my 2" articulating riser today. I thought about the tight cables and not being able to turn the bars, so last night I took a 4" Tim Hortons coffee cup and used it as my riser. ( Theres a thought) I put the cup easily under the bars and turned them left to right without and stress on the cables. Am I missing something? How can this work? I did however remeber that this summer I simply moved the throttle cable to run along a groove on the air box to free up room. But that's it.
Well, when I get my riser I'll post pics of what happens. I hope they're good pics of how it works!

if everything is free with the 4", go for it....the best way to check is doing exactly what you did....maybe the cables are slightly different on other years but I have the 2" in my 01 sx-r.....please post pics
