im new at snowmobiling so bare with me.i cant find the full rate adjuster i dont think there is one. the limiter straps are out all the way. the center shock i dont no if when you turn it if you should make the spring shorter to make it stiffer or let it out .im a 270lb guy so i nead to stiffin this up or maybe main shock is blown out i dont no

There is no FRA on a '96 XT pro-action,you'll need to adjust your pre-load
on the main rear shock or get a new heavier rate spring..
your shocks could be on the way out too,,how many miles???

The shorter you make the spring the stiffer it is. As for the FRA, I dont remember if the 96 had it, it would be at the front mounting bolt of the rear shock.Look at the bolt and determine if it goes through a slotted area. I will try and find some pics to show you.
I believe it did have the FRA, but it didnt have the little teeth that allowed you to adjust it by turning the bolt.I had the 96 XT and it seems like I had to loosen the bolt and move the shock mount by prying it into the position I wanted.
And I agree with Daman about the rear spring and the posibility of the shocks needing to be re-built.

Adjusting front straps won't do anythig for your problem, like i said you need to adjust main spring preload OR get a different spring and maybe sevice your shock..

I would get your shock rebuilt, Adjust the spring while the shock is off and maybe think about a new spring. When I sat on my xt the mud flap would go to the ground.
Your front limiter will adjust your ski pressure. I'm a bigger guy myself and I had my limiter all the way out for easier trail riding, If my daughter would ride it I would tighten it up one hole.
Basically, the sled is old but it is better than the older ones!I went from an srv to the xt to a 4 stroke. Enjoy the ride for a couple years and think about upgrading. You won't believe the difference!

I would turn the spring on the rear shock stiffer, turn some then try it out and keep trying that. Rebuilding the shock will help with the how fast the suspension goes up and down, it wont help your problem that much until you get the spring turned the way you want it. Once you get the spring stiffer then you can ride it and see how bad it bounces up and down. A good shock valved for you wont bounce that bad. Good luck
