Did my precheck over on the sled yesterday before my last ride of the year. While pulling out the chaincase dipstick I noticed it felt a little funny. The fluid level was fine like usual but something was a miss."Hmmm" says I to meself "sum ting wrong here?" After pondering for a few seconds I realized that the magnet was not at the end of the stick. :o| Now just a little pissed off because we are leaving in 20 minutes and I knew that it would take much longer than that to tear off the cover. I searched throughout my toolbox and found my flexible claw retreiver thingy.About three minutes later I had the magnet in my hands. Lucky me.Put on 175 miles without that pesky magnet.

So, How important is this #$%&* magnet? Should I epoxy it back on or am I better off buying a new dipstick?

I would keep it in,get a new magnet(stick),sometimes it gets bent and will hit the chain and scatter(not good big mess)you must just have lost the c clip that hold's in on the stick, you could hunt for a new clip @ the hardware store too..

them little magnet's really catch the shavings..

The magnet is in one piece.I stuck another magnet on a string and put it down there and turned the track by hand a few time to try to catch anything else in there. Picked up alot of fine stuff like I usually get when I check the oil.Sled performed well in the 6 inches of fresh snow with temps above freezing all day long.We even found some fields with 2-3 feet of powder.Have not seen that much snow out here all year. Too bad its all melting soooo fast.

I guess the clip is banging around in the bottom somewhere. Tearing the sled down now that our season is over.I will be going thru the bearings and chain like I do every year.
