At the end of my last ride my Vipers speedo started jumping around from 0 to 45 and back to 0. Only had a couple miles back to the truck. I pulled the secondary clutch yesterday to get a better look at the spedo link and gues what I found ? I could see daylight threw my jackshaft bearing ! I had no other intell that the bearing was going. ( no vibration ) The bearing was shot ! shaft had moved and was sloppy and thats why spedo quit working! I pulled the old bearing and collar off and put a used bearing I had from my SRX ( when I changed Track out in 2004 ) The bearing is in good shape and should get me through the rest of the season. I put all back together, checked chain case side ( Good ) new fluid and checked track and started and spun the track. All is good except the spedo is not working at all. I have never seen the gear and sensor combo before. All looks O.K must be the sensor got hit by the gear when the shaft moved? Anyone else ever see this before? What is the correct distance from gear teeth to pick up sensor? Looks like this distance can't be adjusted anyway.
