I'm looking to put a viper seat on my SRX and found some post about about it and people say you need to change the gas tank at the same times Do you really have to change the tank too? What is the reason people change the tank? I thought they were the same.

The SRX tank has 2 screws and a cutaway where the seat meets the tank. There is an elastic band that connects there. I believe the Vipers do not have this. It just a visual thing.

Was thinking of doing same thing. Are there any years with different foam density then others. The srx there is a big difference between 00 and 01. Just wondering if vipers were different between years.

I think the 02 seat foam is soft, vinyl is slippery. They changed the vinyl in 03 to a raised sqaure grain pattern , but I don't know about the foam. I know the o4 is pleated. That probably is the best seat. It would look good on a SRX to.

I did this swap on my sxr and i had to change the gas tank really easy swap though. I used a 02 seat and it is slippery but not bad.

So changing the tank isn't necessary, but looks better? Does anybody have a pic of an srx with a viper seat? I think my seat is way to soft, and I'm looking for something a little firmer. Plus I think the SRX seat is boring looking and I really like the look of a Viper one.

Here's a couple of my roomates sled.

Search 2000srx(CB performance) I know he did the swap on a SRX. Ill be doing the same thing with one of my 01 SRX and was never told that you had to sawp gas tanks. One thing that is different is the brake light harness plug, it either has to be spliced with use of a Viper plug or just cut both ends and install male and females connectors at each end.

I don't think you want a 02 viper seat. I traded my 02 seat for a 04 seat and it was like adding a better shock. Dont spend your money on a 02 seat save your money for a newer seat, just trying to help.

Thanks Red, Im on the lookout for one.

Correct you do not have to change tanks but it look terrible if you don't and as far as the taillight goes i did not have to splice any ends. simply plug and play
