I went hunting last year, deer for the first time, bird for the 3rd, bought rifle, scops, sling, case, lots of shells, camo, WIN card, deer tag, knife, binoculars, range finder, shotgun, shells, upland game license, migratory bird license. Shot some geese, yuck, and a real nice 3yr old white tail buck 6 pointer, yum.
Cost me in the neighborhood of 2500.00 for 125 lbs of meat.
This year, bought my hunting bow, then another one, am getting proficient with it, and am hoping to nail a deer with it. I have been shooting archery off and on for 25 years. I am shooting tacks at 25 yards now, 2" up to 50 yards, and pie plate at 68. No more bullets, just the odd damn arrow for the 'robin hoods' =------->-------->( (get the picture?) and now the guy at the archery store is telling me I 'need' string silencers, different broadheads, new camo, tree stand, digital game camera, better range finder, scent loc, doe in a bottle, fake horns for rattling, grunt call, oh and a new bow, for 1400.00 because its faster than the fastest bow he sold me in may.
does the insanity ever end?

then buy this and this and this and this and this....
forgot to mention, robin hoods are pretty cool, makes the other guys real jealous, but at 15.00 per arrow, when you lose 2 at a time I have lost 90.00 already.

canada goose is not bad if you stuff it with partrigde or spruce hens when cooking it. the only part that is a pain is cleaning the sucker. i usually skin the ducks or geese unless i have a wack of them to clean then i break out the wax and leave the skin on them. usually takes me 20 min per duck and about 30-40 min per goose. the best way to cook them is in a wood cook stove oven with bread tooth picked to the out side to absorb the greasy taste. mmm mmm good.
