I burned down a cylinder after 5900 flawless miles because a spark plug was loose and it leaned down
I am in the process of a full rebuild to do it right
concerning the head. there are alum specs from the detonation
how can you properly clean it up without scratching any coating ( if any)
is it ok after clean up, or is a new head required
do they have an annodize finish or anything?
thanks

muriatic acid just be careful it will eat the aluminum including the aluminum you want to keep.
If you find yours is banged up too let me know as I have 2 I'd like to sell for the 00-02 engines.
chuck it up in a lathe and either use sand paper to smooth it out or do a light cut if need be, there is no coating on the head, just bare aluminum. Dont use muratic acid as it will eat the aluminum, thats what you use on the cylinder plating to remove the molten/smeared aluminum.
