Like the title says my 700 is using too much fuel for the kind of riding (trails) that I do.On my last trip a week and a half ago my sled used almost twice what my buds 01 SRX did over the same trails and same mileage.Yes I am bigger than he is by about 80-90lbs but my sled was never this bad on gas before so I'm going to start a list of things to check.First I'd like to ask if anyone has ever changed the brass in their carbs because of wear?I've only just heard of this not all that long ago and I really hadn't thought about gas wearing out the jets but I suppose it's possible.
Things on my list:
Chassis
1 chassis bearings that may be causing excess drag
2 clutch alignment

Carbs
1 float heights
2 main jet condition
3 loose or broken parts in the float bowls

Anyone have anything else I should check?I'm pretty well done riding this year so I'm going to be checking this stuff in the summer or fall but I'd still like some more ideas.

If there are a lot miles check the needle and seats under the floats. This was a common problem on a lot of mid 90 polaris sleds i expierenced.

Thanks for the tips so far.I will probably go through the carbs and replace all the internals but if the needle and seat weren't properly working wouldn't the gas keep running into the carb continuously?I fixed a sticky needle in a friends Indy Classic once and that's what it was doing, the only way to keep the gas from running out whenever the engine was shut off was to close the gas shutoff valve.I don't have any flooding issues per say but now that I think of it I had it load up one morning on our trip a couple of weeks ago while idling to warm up first thing in the AM.I had to move the sled around the parking lot to get it cleared out.I did set the float heights in the fall so I'll be taking another look at them to make sure they aren't too low and allowing the gas to run more than usual.
