viper mountain

If you understand pilot, needle and main jet adjustments then there is no problems, if not you could lose a engine. There is a lot of info here, do a search, it is not that hard to get right.

sounds like a good deal but you have to be maintaining and tuning it all the time. a buddy here had a 2001 mountain max 700 with bender pipes and did not maintain it well so he blowed the middle piston!just as long as you maintain it well you will not have any problems. i've decided not to run triple pipes on my viper mountain. she currently got 128 hp and i got a bender 4x4 pipe for it which adds 4-5 hp.

i would never go to a single pipe after having tripples, big horsepower gains over the 120 hp the vipers have. jetting and good fuel is the key to using triple pipes.

i didnt have triple pipes for the viper anyways. wouldnt work for me anyways because alot of people told me its a waste of money! it just makes her harder on gas and i like something thats more reliable! dont get me wrong but i dont say it will work down this way where the gas is kinda dirty and all.

redsnake 3 is right on, except he and I both forgot to mention clutching. If good fuel, jetting and clutching are spot on, you will have a A** Kicking reliable sled.

triple pipes are awesome for what they are made to do, make power, not fuel efficiency, waste of money? dpends on if you mind the fuel efficiency that much. i believe there was someone down your way(brent) that had alot of luck with the pipes, but ya i understand the fuel problem down your way.

lol...hey! brent jacque had swapped his viper parts for srx parts there a couple years ago but ever since then she sucked! had to cut his belly pan plastic and he really was stupid enough to get a hammer and hit them to make them fit! lol i dont think he had much luck with them yet anyways because she wasnt going all last year. i dont know what he got up his sleave this year tho but winter will soon be over to find out. heard he got a big bore kit or something to make her have around 200 hp. dont get me wrong but id rather just run the single pipe as i have no problems. id run the tripple pipes 100% if i knew ore about them and knew how to tune them and had better gas down this way!

ya he got a big bore 835 i believe, he told me that it got somewhere around 38000 kms on it now and he had it piped for alot of those. i couldnt believe that its still ran with triples after that much. not sure i understand what you mean by "heard he got a big bore kit but i would over run my motor"

haha just a typo, ya i liked his viper when he had it turned into a 144 alot better. dont really like the idea of rail extentions though. my buddy who made his venture into a 151 from 136 bought the hartman kit but he was after loosing 2 sets of them gold rods on each side of the rear shock! its a real bad idea to relocate the front arm! the front and rear suspension shocks are too close to each other and causes them rods to break easily and very stiff to ride. he tried my viper mtn tonight and he said she is alot smoother and softer to ride than his. we going to try and make a set of 151 rx1 rails to work on his now with my front h-arm, rails, and drop brackets from my rx1.

yup my venture 151 SUCKS!! if i knew the hartman long track kit was that bad i would of never got it!. i guess ill have to get some kind of after market suspention this summer if i cant get the rx-1 mountain suspention to fit. im going to take off my transfer rods and install a homemade transfer inhancement kit soon i hope i can see some improvement.

I'm not sure what your unhappy about, but my 151 hartman extention is good(not great) on the trails. I keep up with stock 800cc 151 /153 Doos and Dragons on the trails and on the hills in powder. If it's not working call hartman, complain and ask for help.

My Viper has the Hartman extension to a 156 but the previous owner had installed the MPI tranfer kit

Rides like a dream, plus the Ohlins inthe rear are nice for my phat butt

the only thing bad about the hartman long track kit (for 97-99 mm's/venture 136'') is the W arm relocation. you guys got the newer viper's and dident have to deal with it. i went on mountainperformance.com and i read all about the relocation and everything said about it was BAD like: prepare for excesive hyfax wear (which is very true i went through 5 pairs in 1500 km), broken arm's (broke 4 times so far this winter). yea im fusterated because i was riding yamaha for years STOCK with no problems and i decided to finally try something aftermarket and had nothing but PROBLEMS!

got some more info its actually a 04 not an 03 and it has the dcs sensor. He says it runs hot when you are running it really hard (He has melted his hood in a couple of spots) but not to worry the dcs kicks in. Does this sound all right or does he have a set up problem that should make me concerned about reliability. He also has an aftermarket head that helps with cooling ?What do you think?

did he have the hood taped up with the special kind of tape because when u get tripple pipes you have to do it or you will melt your hood when she gets too hot. i have the 04 viper ountain and she runs great! id go for it. how much was he selling it for and how many kms are on it? is this the one in corner brook and he wants $5000 for? vipers are great machines im glad i got one! mine got 8900 km on her now and just rebuilt the engine at 8300 km but the original pistosn still looked in great cindition when i took them out!
