I WAS TALKING TO BRUCE SCHRADER YESTERDAY ABOUT ALOT OF THINGS AND HE GAVE ME THE WEIGHTS OUT OF THE NEW SERVICE MANUAL
RS VECTOR 537#
RS RAGE 545#
I THOUGHT 537# IS NOT BAD WHEN YOU CONSIDER ELECTRIC START AND THAT THE FACT THE VECTOR IS ONLY 9# HEAVIER THAN THE SRX PLATFORM.I LOOK THE 2 MODELS THEY HAD ON THE FLOOR OVER AND THAT MONOSHOCK RA IS QUITE IMPRESSIVE ON THE RX 1 WARRIOR
AND THE VECTOR IS QUITE A SLED AS WELL.ONE THING I DID NOTICE AT LEAST IN MY OPINION WHEN YOU SIT ON A YAMAHA NEW OR OLDER THEY ALL HAVE THAT YAMAHA FEEL LIKE YOU COULD BE BLIND FOLDED AND KNOW YOUR SITTING ON A YAMMIE. THE FEEL AND ERGONOMICS ARE VERY SIMILIAR FROM MY 98
OH BRUCE ALSO SAID THAT THE NEW MACHINES RIDE A LITTLE STIFF AND THAT THERE IS A BREAKING IN PERIOD

Weight is in the mind of the prejudger
I think that a lot of people look at the 4-stroke Yammies and they think, "oh wow, what a tank!"
I dont think a lot of them realize that just because the RX-1/RS Vector weigh 530/560 pounds they really dont feel that heavy because Yamaha has centered the mass.
It not like 5-8 years ago when you had a lot of triple-triple sleds where all of the weight was up front. Im talking about sleds like the ThunderCat and 800 XCR/Storm. With those sleds, you had the weight of a big triple and you had the weight of 3 exhaust pipes and in the case of the XCR/Storm a very heavy chassis.
You dont have that on the RX/RS. The exhuast goes from the engine straight out the back under the seat.
A lot of people (mostly the ones wearing ditchpickle green) are going around calling it the "RX 1-ton" but I dont really think any of them have even looked at the specs. Its like they are so blinded by the glare off their neon green sleds that they cant see the truth or see things as they really are.

I don’t know what it is about the other brands they just enjoy bashing Yamaha...I think for the most part they are jealous of the quality and technology.

Well, Ive only heard people say, "RX 1-ton" on forums. I only take about 10% of what I read on internet forums seriously.
Ive never been one to much care what others think. I walk my own path through life.
Ive been told by a lot of people how much they hate Yamaha and how they would never own one. My response has always been, "thats cool." Only later do most of them admit the fact that they have never ridden a Yamaha and their opinion is based on some guy they knew who owned one.
I think that snowmobilers need to take a lesson from motorcyclists. Rathar than feuding over brand choice we need to focus much more on preserving our sport.
Its not at all uncommon nowdays to see a group of Harleys with a couple of sportbikes riding with them. I have many friends who are bikers, most of them ride Harleys. I have always wanted to get a motorcycle, so I talk to them about bikes sometimes. They have never said anything bad about any foreign bike. They always say how much they like their Harleys, but they also admit that a Harley isnt for everyone. Not everyone likes the vibration that most Harleys have. Also, not everyone tries to look like an outlaw. Most of my biker friends bought the Harley to look like an outlaw, for the Harley mystique or because they like the made in America aspect.
They ride with a bike club and they have told me that you see a wide range of bikes. You will see Harley Road Kings and you will see Yamaha Road Stars, Kawi Vulcans and Honda Shadows. They say you will also see a few R6s, R1s, CBRs and GSXs.
In fact, the one guy once rode a Suzuki Hayabusa. Im not sure, but I believe its a 1600cc sportbike. He said that if he were in the market for a sportbike, thatd be the one he'd buy. This guy is 50 years old, so I dont think his back could take riding a sportbike 300 miles a day.
So I say, it doesnt matter to me if you sled is blue, green, yellow or red, as long as you ride thats all that matters!

The Other Manufacturer's Have Gone To Producing Snocross Cloned Snowmobiles, that For The Most Part Are Appealing To The Masses.but I Dont Want To Sound Bias Against Thease Types Of Sleds, It's Just I Am Not Into Ape Hanger Handle Bars On A Sled. Im A Flat Lander Who Wants A Sled That Corners Well And Rips The Straight Aways In A Blaze Of Fire.the Cats The Doos And The Polarasses Are All Monickers Of Each Other.and I Think You Will See Alot More Yammie's Out There For They Are Once Again Setting The Standard For Things To Come In The Future, just Like They Did With Oil Injection, the Japanese Know What They Are Doing And Improve On An Idea Along With Making The First Part The Same As The 100,000 There Tolerances To Quality Is And I Hate To Say It Light Years Ahead Of The United States.i Did A Little Comparing Yesterday At The Dealer Who Sells All 4 Brands, and The Fit And Finish On The Yamaha Is Bar None To The Other 3.also The Vector Rear Skid Has Been Said To Look Alot Like A Polaris, but Thats Why Yamaha Did It Cause The Old Skid Had A Very Small Window For Adjustment That Went By Ride Height.and If You Look At The Vector Skid And A Polaris Skid The Vector Is Alot Better Designed, and Has MORE Adjustment.
