Has anyone ever tried the ULTIMATE TRAXTION TRACK that KIMPEX sells?
1"- 144 pre-drilled holes.
On sale for $400, was $599.95 at ROYAL DISTRIBUTING.
Also, what size stud would I use with this track?
It is going on my 98srx700.
thanx,
mul

We mostly ride groomed trails and lakes.
I live in Haliburton, Ont. and we have great trails.
The track that I am replacing is a stock yammy track with 144 studs.
Only hooked up good on real hard packed snow. I ripped the track on my last ride.

If I were you, I would look into a 9818 which is a 1.25" lug track or a 9830 which is a 1 inch. Both are great, durable tracks that hook up well, and they will also be cheaper than the kimpex.

my personal, and the local yamaha dealer's experiences would suggest to go with a camoplast track. the kimpex tracks don't last as long on the srx's. on my 01srx i have the cheap camoplast 3/4" track (9791) and it is still holding together with about 8000km's on it. the kimpex one i tried flew apart at the 800km mark. both had 192 studs in them and i drilled the holes for them also. (hence no warranty on the kimpex). the dealer also tried other kimpex tracks w/studs and w/o studs, and neither one held together for very long.

i went with the 3/4" because where i ride in southern ontario we don't get a whole lot of snow and the taller tracks lugs get ripped off.

Keep an eye open here, and at any of the other boards that you are registered at on the web...also it wouldnt hurt if you started a wanted to buy thread here so people know your looking for one.

To answer the question directly:

I had the pre-drilled Kimpex track on a tweaked '00 SXr 700 and had no problems. A good stud height for this track is 1.25.
