I have never done it personally but a buddy of mine has. He unhooked the shocks to flatten it as much as possible then he wraped it with plastic wrapping. Probably quite a bit of plastic. Then he just shipped it UPS like that. Maybe that will work for you.

I happened to buy a new skid when I sold my old one so I had the box it came in. I just unbolted the shocks to make it flatter as mentioned in the previous post.

Make the box as small as the skid and a 121in skid will run you around $50-$60(pending weight) through UPS state to state. I normally use a fasica(bumper) box from work and custom fit the box to the skid, works like a charm and saves money since your not using a huge box.
Zip Tie's work great for holding everything in one place and not bouncing all around.

expert x has it -don't know if you have them out there, but there is a place here called Pak Mail - they have a 15 x 15 x 48" box that works good, you just have to watch the cross shafts.

Get a few boxes. Cut the sides off and wrap them around the skid in segments using some really good tape to mate up the seems. It works pretty good and you can get it wrapped pretty tight. I shipped out an entire skid from an 80 SRX this way and the buyer was more than happy with the packaging on how tight it was.
Just have to cut out a piece or the front and back of skid and tape it up real good. You can get some corners to bend by cutting and overlapping with tape.

You can also bolt wood strips (keep em light) to the skid to help keep it from punching throught the box during shipping. Make the strips just barely fit in the box and bolt to the mount locations.
I have had whole tunnels shipped with the skids inside them for $75 or less.

Also give the bus line (Greyhound)a call they ship something like that, cheap too!superviper said:WOW!!!
