Wondering if it is possible to make a Viper as fast or faster than an SRX for drag racing? Seems as if I would be better off starting with an SRX vs the Viper but just wondering what everyone else has experienced. Thanks for any feedback.

chaserdog, the viper with a set of aftermarket triple pipes added to the stock engine is right at 148-150hp, so you get more hp right off the bat, the srx is 140hp. The viper is also lighter then a srx is. The only thing that holds a viper back is the long travel suspension, but for drag racing youll lower it anyways. So the answer is certainly yes, a viper can be faster then a srx is.

The srx has 145 hp... depending on year.... 00-02 had more then 98-99.... 3-5 hp will not be noticable on the trail.......On a dyno yes, but in the snow... No.... Loose rotating mass... (unstudded predator, drilled/slotted titanium brake rotor.)

i thought the 00-02 were suppose to make 5hp more than the 98-99 srx's, cause of the new 3d ingition system. also, it depends which pipes you put on a viper. i haven't seen any dyno sheets that have shown a 148-150hp with pipes alone. the dyno sheet i've seen of a viper w/aaens was 140.2hp, benders was 144.3hp, and the slp's 146.5hp. i haven't seen the dyno sheets for cpr's, so maybe those do. the one with speedwerx pipes, speedwerx head, and v-force 3 reeds, was 149.5hp.

moparules, best thing you can do is search this site for "viper pipes", there is enough information with dyno results, performance in the field, fit/finish, gas mpg and overall performance to keep you reading till next new years eve!

Yes they do....

its not because they where advertised at 145hp that they actually make it.... i'm sure Don has spent enough time on the dyno to know what a stock one does don't you think.....

and your also posting doing over 110mph in LESS then 1000ft, I also read your gonna be going over 120mph :ORC , you know the current world record stock srx runs 113mph, but then again with you having 145hp stock must be the reason. Will be intresting to see you take the world record this year with your speeds......You have a awesome srx there.

I was doing 115 on the speedo in 35F temps with a 144 x2" track. Of course I was running 8 tooth drivers with the speedo drive for 9's so I wasn't going nearly that fast. Made for a great conversation with my buddies till I told them what was going on.

Yah I'm sure my SLP Piped Viper would take a stock SRX.
