But look at what I found.
Its a 1970 Evinrude Skeeter 25hp wide track with electric start and reverse. Its all original with the except for the "woodland friends" graphics. It has more controls than the space shuttle.....it has a choke, primer, compression release, reverse knob, and a primary clutch disenguage knob. You can pull the primary knob and hold the throttle wide open on it. In fact thats how the owners manual tells you to tune the carb. Yes, it came with the owners manual as well as every dealer service invoice since it was new. The track is in perfect condition and the rear suspesion only has a few surface rust areas...the wheels are all perfect. The front skis still have the original wear bars in them and they are in great shape as well.
I bought the sled to use the engine in my golf cart but I can't bring myself to destroy a 39 year old sled in this good of shape.

Look closely at the engine...its an opposed twin. How many of those have you seen in a sled?
Everything works on it. the only thing I did to get it going was drain the tank (there's a plug on the side of it), flush the tank and refill it. I hooked up a battery and it fired right up.

One of my buddies had a few of these years back. They seemed to be well built, kinda like a tank lol!We had alot of fun putting around on them and they were easy to get going kinda like you described even after years of sitting.I can still remember the unique sound those things have, neat find!

I agree that one is too nice. That would be an awful easy restore project and there are plenty of cheap engines out there!
