Stein.Doesn't the white stuff look nice. Not enough of it,but a sight for soar eyes. We have been into a dry spring so far, nothing is really greening up ,so any moisture helps.Been a very cool spring and will remain for most of May.We could be looking at a hot July and a possible drought situation this summer.I hope this trend doesn't continue into next winter.Last winter was bad enough.I am afraid we are into some dry years ahead.

10 YEARS!!!!!!!Didn't you guys get some major snowfall this past winter?

LOL, no way. :o| We only had about 10" of snow all winter until the first week in March. We got about 25" of snow since then. Winter is all over now though.

The only way there's ever good riding here is if by luck we get over a foot of snow and the wind blows so that is all builds up into the ditches. Then it's game on. :bump:

I don't know what our snowfall was for last winter, but wasn't enough to even fill the ditches.Very lame on the snowfall and if some of it melted down during a couple of above 0 temps, then we were really screwed.

I think we had more wind than snow last winter. :o|

Southern Ont!

Wow I didn't realize the western part of canada had another bad year. We had a record setting year here in southern ontario. The total snowfall was around 268 cm with a 10-12 week riding season. Never had this much snow in one season before. Funny part is the year before was almost a record. So I wonder how much we will get next year.

Yeah, well it seemed like every time a big storm with a lot of potential snowfall was tracked coming our way,it then seemed to turn and move further east all the time. Thus you guys got the real snow. The east is were all the snow ended up,not here in central Canada. Now it seems the same thing is happening here again this spring. We are not getting any rain and thus far looks like we are going into a drought season.Warnings have been issued already that our forest fire situation will change drastically soon with an amount of fires that will be started because of the dryness out there. If this keeps up,the Province will ban any campfire's in Provincial Parks. All the fire water bombers are ready and more people are being hired because of this threat update. Not a good situation indeed.Take this issue and extend into next winter season with a lack of mositure and with the price of gas sky-rocketing......sledding may be effected big time.Gas now here is $1.30/liter.
That already is a few cents away from $6.00/gallon.I will be a sad guy come the next sledding season.

Hey Bluemonster, Thompson had lots of snow this year. Considering the lack of snow in the south I was still able to put on 2700 miles in the Whiteshell, and Interlake regions and trouble free I might add.

blkmax what was your fuel costs for the season bythe way.I am sure it added up some.I myself maybe put on half them km's but my fuel costs were higher then the season before.

I'm talking miles there bluemonster, as far as fuel costs I don't really keep track of it, you only live once so you might as well have fun!!! To save on fuel I know commute to work in a Chevy Metro 3 cylinder, gotta love 48 mpg.

Oh I keep track of everything.I 'll let you know what it cost me per km or mile as you said to run the sleds.I keep all my gas receipts for everyseason and add the costs for them, oil etc and see what it really is costing to have a little fun.And certainly it would not make any sense to me to purchase a 4-stroke for $16,000 just to save on my gas bill.I will now have 3 sleds running by next season..a 500,600 and 700.Guess which one will get used more when the gas hits $10.00 A GALLON.I have always kept records for everything I own, that way I can compare things from time to time.Yes as the gas goes up in price..I surely won't be spending $2000 for gas/per season to have a good time.I will be more selective and drive a little more conservative.I am not into long haul rides anyways,so an hour here or an hour there is good enough for me.
