hey

im in the process of changing all the gaskets and seals in my viper motor. my concern is taking my crank out. im a first timer at this. anything i need to look out for? i need to change my crank seals because i was just after puttin new pistons in at 8500 km in march and when put her away due to shortage of snow she had 10250 km on her. i just bought a coplete engine gasket/seak kit from ebay. this is a aftermarket kit. when i find more about how to take my crank out easily i want to check the crank bearings before i put her back together. so any info that i can use would be great!!

Thanks

My 2 cents

Don't jam a screwdriver between the cases...there is to gasket there, just a liquid seal bond...note placement of dowels & crank thrust rings, orientation of the crank seals...grease up the seals before you re-assemble...send out your crank to a crank shop to verify trueness & bearing conditions...(long down time/parts apart)...tip: always coat your parts with a light film of 2 cycle oil or spray with fogging oil, resist the urge to touch the bearings/crank with bear fingers, as this will start the rust thing...
Others will chime in & offer advice as well, run into a snag-just ask for help...cheers

^^All good advice, like said need more info, ask or try a search.

how many bolts are holding the crank case together? also, the only thing that wasnt told above is one of my main concern. when the cases are apart will the crank just lift out? and when putting the crank back in the cases what will i need to do? answer this question because i know all about what was said above. i live far from crank shops so i have to do all of the inpection myself. if the bearings are bad (which i dont say they are because it was running perfect before i took it apart) i will have to send my crank to newfoundland to get it done over new! i think i can get one more year out of them. let me know!

you'll see once you flip the engine over.

yes

the bearings will have a little dowel pin that will need to be lined up with a
corresponding hole in the case, make sure this is done right.(easy to do)
