Are the basic aluminum 2 place sled trailers really worth the money? I have been looking to get a new/used one and I knew they were expensive, but man. There is people asking 1,800 for used trailers that have tops all banged up, lights not working etc. I used to race motocross and our full out race trailer used was the same price, much nicer, more solid.
What do you guys use for trailering?

In 2006 I bought a used 2005 Triton Elite with the light kit for 2000. I looked for months. When this guy finally answered the phone at 9 at night, I pretty much told him I'd take it that night. Drove an hour to check out and put a down payment on it. He said that in the time that I called and drove there, 3 people called wanting to do the same thing.

I think they are out there but you have to get them immediatly!! If you need one right now, you'll have to pay. I was fortunate in that I could wait.

Good luck!

I don't need one right now. I'm searching for them though. Found two in my area. One is a 2002, the lid is all dented up, and the lights don't work. The guy wants 1700. I passed on that one. Just found an 04 in brand new condition, he is asking 2000.00 firm.. Not sure yet on that one. Brand new leftovers at the dealer near me are going for 2560. I just can't believe you can buy the whole trailer without the lid for 1100, but together it costs almost 3 grand.. unbelievable, lol!

i just got a new triton 8x10 2008 open for 900 dollars plus tax and got ski guides and track mats for just under 200 dollars and could have got the top for 1795 extra ...the guy i ride with is a triton dealer and cuts me some very good deals but i am kinda waiting for a used top ...cause i couldnt see spending almost twice as much for the top as i did for the trailer ..was thinking about making my own top but i dont think it will look as good ....down here were i live we get alot of guys who are just getting out of the sport and damn near giving away there gear ...cause of having to drive so far to ride ......i am olny home one day a week and work 65 to 90 hours a week so i can enjoy what little bit of winter we do get ......the hours suck ...but when i am riding it is all worth it

I held out for many years using an open trailer. When I bought my 1994 VMax-4 I could not stand the thought of hitting it with the road salt and crud spray so I built a plywood and 2x3 cover for my open trailer. It worked terrific but was a bit of work to open and close it. I used this trailer and cover for 5 years then sold the open trailer for what I bought it for and bought a Triton V nose trailer with an aluminum top. I bought it new for $2000 in 1998 and it is still in excellent condition. Overall, it has been worth the money although it does not protect the sleds as well as a fully enclosed trailer such as a Thule. I made some clamps to hold the front edge of the cover tight to the trailer surface which prevents the salt and crud from leaking under the front edge. I am thinking of buying a fully enclosed drive in - drive out trailer and store the sleds in it during the summer. With the fully enclosed trailer, i can load it up with the sleds, my riding gear and tools and leave it loaded, reduce the amount of loading and unloading the truck. I too work way too many hours so need to be ready when the opportunity to ride comes. I trailer 6 hours each way to reach my favorite spot in NH.

I might pick this one up locally this weekend for 2k. It's an 07 with every sled trailer add on you can think of.

Ok, I am all set to buy, waiting for the seller to let me know when he wants his money, lol! But if I don't take it I'll give you everything. Where are you located?

Picked my 2 place Alum. Elete tilt for 1000.00 bucks 3 years ago in very good condition, put 100.00 into it to fix some lights and reinforce the alum skin on the sides. Works like a champ.

all the 1000.00 trailers here have massive holes in the top, ripped up decking from studs, bad wiring, bad bearings etc. No luck yet finding anything decent for a good price. This trailer is almost new which works better for me right now.

I bought a 2006 Sno Pro Xtreme.. used like twice. high rise top. sliders, traction mats, interior light, leds lighs all around, load assist shocks, HD Torzion axle, tie downs etc etc.. for $2,100.. buddy paid $3,100new for it.. Shop around.. Do your home work. Mine is the same the picture you posted. I can't tell if yours is the Xtreme though? Good luck in your search... if you think those prices are high come to Candada.. ha-ha. I bought mine in Maine.

It's the same as your describing. Same options and everything. How do you like yours?

That trailer looks tall. One thing you should know: expect your gas mileage to fall a bit. I wouldn't think of exposing my sleds to the road salt that Illinois uses, but pulling that big parachute behind you is a drag. Pun intended. ;)!

That is expected no matter what. I don't care about that anyhow. It's only $4.05 a gal, and my truck gets great mileage, like 10mpg pulling in the winter, I got no probs there, lol!!!!! :whine: #$%&*

I like it. tows easy. Its a little wide for my Tacoma.. But buddy is right. The highrise top does catch the wind. Its a bitch to clean the aluminum in the spring. Get a product called ALumabrite and acid wash her down so the aluminum won't eat away. Good luck.

I will be towing the trailer with a lifted ford f-150 with 35" toyo muds. The trailer wouldn't come close to the height of my truck. So hopefully that won't be a problem for me. I can definitely see the problem with washing it though. Maybe if I stand on my tailgate at the car wash? lol! I haven't heard from the guy all weekend so either he won't get back to me till next week, or I'm still trailer less..

You spend $10000 on a sled and worried about spending 2-3000 on a trailer that will protect it and other sleds in the future??? Not a bash just a statement.

Pretty much the point I am trying to get across here, lol!! That's why I don't want a 10 year old $1,000 fixer upper. I want a newer useful trailer.

up here,(Canada) you would be looking at 2500 and up .Luckily i picked up an 02 srx and an closed aluminum (mint) for 3500 u.s. that package up here could fetch 7000.00

bought the trailer finally tonight. Towed down the highway for about an hour. Seems like it's not even there! So far so good. Only problem was the lights kept going on and off every now and then. Turns out the plug on my truck is loose, Have to fix that soon.
