Changing the track on a 02 Viper and will be going from 8-tooth drivers back to 9. Are the drivers pressed on to the shaft ?? My new drivers seem a bit smaller than the hex shaft and the old ones are on there pretty good. Never changed drivers before.......
yes they are slightly smaller they press on.
Put the shaft in the deep freeze for a few hour and put the drivers in a pot of boiling water. Have fun , they are very tight!

Why are you going back to 9t?

Yes, the drivers are pressed on but do not require much pressure to press them off or on. I used a hand operated hydraulic press, it took very little force to move the drivers. I made up some half collars out of aluminum tubing to keep the drivers spaced properly. With the collars, I could move all the drivers as a unit to properly position them on the drive shaft. I found the drivers pressed on much easier than they pressed off. Don't use any lube to help pressing them on or else they will slide to easily.
Thanks for all the replys. The drivers look way smaller than the shaft when you start them on manually. I'm going back to 9 because I'm changing the track from a studded 1-1/4 hacksaw back to a 1" finger track I've got laying around. Don't really like the short radius turn on the 8 tooth drivers and the speedo being way off. Bought the sled with this set-up and had many studs pull through this past season. Thanks, Howie
