i am looking at purchasing a 700 grizzly 07 and would like to know how i am gonna start this unit in the bush if the battery dies. I know i am not in the right section but all my trusted conacts are.

thanks vinnyb

i guess i will keep my ancient kodiak then , too bad thats a beauty of a bike , but i cant take the chance of being on foot way back in the bush .

My .02

I had the same attitude about my Rx1...no recoil (other than the strap for the primary)anyone do that on a 4stroke yet!...however I did put on 13000 trouble free Km's...started well below -20...original yami battery...I did carry a set of mini booster cables in case, never needed them...remember man it's a yamaha...if winching, leave it run...I would not worry about it, if its a real good deal...go for it, You won't be disappointed...

i was hoping that someone here had invented something that they wanted to share , i have thoiught of a secondary battery attached to the racks or something like that .
???

instead of going to the trouble of an extra battery just pack a portable battery booster box with you. I bet after a few years of packing something you never use you will feel better about having no aux starting system.
If it makes you feel any better My quad is a 2003, I have never needed
to use the recoil start. And its an ARCTIC CAT.shhhhhhhhhh don't tell anyone

Nothing to worry about. Just get some small jumper cables and you will be fine. I had the RX-1 as well along with a 650 Arctic Cat ATV and had no problem with starting/batteries. The ATV has a pull cord on it that I pull now and then just to see if it works!!! Never had any need for the cables yet.

my 800 sportsman doesnt have a recoil either but i never worry about the starting factor. of course you shouldnt go that far unless someone is w/ you or someone knows where you are. imo.

hey 05vmax, you never keep anything long enough for it to wear out and be a problem anyway! lol

i still have my 2000 kodiak, and two grizzlies,'05 and '07. no worries about not starting. spend the money and get a good battery, and proper storage when not in use.

My '06 Griz 660 has a pull rope for a back up, did they do away with this on the 700's? Have you looked over the machine your wanting to buy yet? The 4-stroke side can probably tell you if they have a pull rope or not.

These are all good points, but there's something to be said for having a pull start backup. Even if not alone, I will never trust only the starter, which is why I purchased a Kawasaki Brute Force 750.....I was all set to buy a grizzly, but bailed for that exact reason....Kawasaki was a good backup plan, and she's an absolute beast...takes down everyting except those dam can am 800's

Throw a clutch kit in your brute force and you'll really be impressed!

A friend of mine has an '05 Griz with after market air intake and exhaust, clutch kit, and jet kit. He put a clutch kit on a co-worker of ours brute force about a month ago. He said the brute force slightly pulled his Griz, it was pretty impressive. He also said that the brute would wheelie by simply grabbing a handful. Everything else on it is stock except for Mud-lite tires.

I have a clutch kit, but to lower the top speed, and reduce the stall speed.

It slowed it down quite a bit, but I can wheelie on demand so, I added a CDI to wake it back up, and an HMF exhaust pipe. Loud-fast-mudslinger

Sounds sweet.

I'd like to put a clutch kit in mine. Couldn't care less about losing top speed, just want that bottom and mid-range pull.
