hey guys i took out the reed valves ...they are delta not sure which model...looks like carbon fiber ....but if i hold them up to the light ..they are open a hair ...is that right ?or they suppost to be closed tight were no light comes through? there are no broken or chiped petals .....thanks

if the gap is less than .020", your ok. ideally, you want no gap, but sometimes there is always that real little bit of light that you can see. are you delta reed cages grey or black. if grey, version 1. if black either version 2 or 3.

the inner pedals are the ones that aint closed completly ..mabe .20 gap or less ....black cages says vforce delta on the top edge.......

replace em with cheapie stock reeds & call it a day. Zero gains on a stock or slightly tweaked yammie with aftermarket reeds.

ok here are som pictures of the delta reeds and the stock reeds .....but the stock ones have samll chips on the center pedal ...is it saveable or buy new ones ?first pic is the stock reed with small chip others are the delta reed and the gap they have in them

looks like you have a big enough gaps on the inner pedals to change them out. if you want some stock pedals, i have 2 good/unchipped used sets, from 2 vipers. if you want a set, let me know. i'll let a set go for $10. i have used some slightly chipped petals on a srx once in a pinch and noticed no running problems, what so ever.

what problems would a person have if they were running poor or chipped reeds?
(just curious to know what to look for down the line...)

Thx!

i dont want to deal with changing petals i am gonna see if i can get cages with petal in them for a decent price

kingtigg, you should notice signs of poor throttle response and possibly it running a little rich, cause the petals aren't closing and sealing properly, to keep back some of the air/fuel mixture.

YA*AM*A*HEAD, i would do the same. look for some stock cages and be done. those deltas do nothing but chip petals every 800-1000 miles. IMO...junk.
