ok i am having problems ....i have striped out the threads on the intake were reeds bolt to i used a 1/4 20 tap and rechased it ...and was putting it all back together and striped another one ,,,,whats going on here ? i know it is soft metal so i have been gentle with it ....what is the torq spec on rhem bolts? anyome else ran into this problem ? should i heli coil or retap the hole ?

The threads are all metric for one thing - you should try using a M8 x 1.25 tap - I think that's what they are.

well i went and bought a heli coil kit cause i didnt trust changing thread size ...didnt want to take a chance of sucking air and suffering a melt down...i bought a m6 x1 and did two holes and everything seems to be good ....i ran a 1/4 20 through first to cut extra material out first ....and if i didnt know better i would say it was heli coiled already by the way it looks ...it almost looked like the heli coil i bought was too big compared to the threads that came out on the 1/4 20 ....so i went ahead and used the m6x1 does anyone know if that was the rite kit to use with the stock bolts? or do i need to get different bolts ??

Wow, it looks as if you need some help. You are mixing metric and english threads.
If you are indeed using a metric m6 helicoil, the tap that came with the helicoil will be a special mk tap, and will more then likely be a m7 or m8 tap. The helicoil gets threaded into the threads that you just tapped with the tap that is provided with the kit.

If oyu just purchased replacement helicoils without a tap, do yoursself a favor and go and purchase a kit with the tap, or purchase the helicoil tap.

i bought the kit ...and did how i was suppost to except i didnt drill cause i didnt want to drill at a angle ....so i used the 1/4 20 tap to cut it a little bit bigger and than i ran the heli coil tap through and put the heli coil threads in ....but it didnt say if i was suppost to use thread lock....i didnt know if someone knew the size bolt used and thread pitch ,,,,i just give the bolt to the guy and he set me up...just wondering if he was correct .....got the motor back in now i forgot the oil line routing ........

Helicoil tech article for anyone wanting to refresh.

Shows the bolts holes as 6.5mm which would be clearance for a 6mm bolt. You should be good with the six mm helicoil. The drill size for the M6 helicoil appears to be 1/4" , an M6 hole is .237 so you should be good, at least in this application. You probably 'tore' some of the aluminum out instead of cutting it out with the drill/tap is all.
