I just pulled the '80 Enticer 340 into the garage on Monday, and rebuilt the seat. The wood had rotted out, and the seat cover was cracked. So, I pulled the seat, got out the 3/16 x 1/2 inch pop rivets, a piece of 16 x 32 inch 1/4 thick Luon, some fender washers, and went at it. It took a while to rebuild the whole thing as the seat studs had busted off the rear, and they needed to be replaced by grinding out spot welds. I ended up replacing them with some metric stainless steel bolts and some nylock nuts.
Once I finished rebuilding the seat frame, I painted the rear hatch inside & out with zinc primer, then went over the luon with some oil based paint to seal it really good. Once that was done, I stretched my EBAY special seat cover over the seat, and tucked it into place, followed up with some liberal use of the staple gun. Now the seat looks 100% better and there's no wrinkles anywhere! I bolted the seat on and even my distinctly non-mechanical wife noticed the difference, even from the kitchen at distance!
Now the sled is in the garage awaiting the suspension rebuild. However, first things first....
On Tuesday I pulled off the Yamaha Excel V seat and tore off the cracked vinyl. The seat had an ant colony move in, so I evicted them and got to business with rebuilding it as well. By Tuesday evening, the seat was all rebuilt and awaiting it's own seat cover. However, since seat covers for the Excel V are NOT offered anywhere (as far as I can tell), I dropped the seat off at a custom auto interior shop and they are going to stitch & stretch one for me for $100.
So, that's how I'm getting ready. The batteries have been getting a lot of use this summer, as the Excel V's battery is running my riding lawnmower, and the Enticer's battery is currently running in my Honda CB750F. As luck would have it, the batteries are exact fit, so its a twofer and I win!
Maybe this weekend I'll get the Enticer's suspension out and go over it with new bearings and new hyfax sliders. The ones in there are original and are worn through.
One thing I also need though is a left ski for the Excel V. Mine's missing the front loop. Anyone got a spare?

Slowly but surely here to.Got my w-arm off the 600SXR,noticed 1 small crack on it.Going to weld the whole thing and re-inforce it also and re paint it.Got an old vintage 76 Artic Cat Pantera Free Air that I workerd on this summer.Put newly re-built engine in it already that I got of e-bay.Runs great.Went thru the whole sled and all is ok.This sled has only 1800 original miles on it.Seat is mint, suspension is good, repainted the ski's.It already has handle grip warmers installed on it and a connector for my electric helmet I installed a few years back before I blew up the motor.I re-built the clutches on it also, checked chaincase gears, jackshaft bearing's and all is good. This is going to be my run around sled when conditions are not so great.Track is original and hyfax and all is in top shape. This sled is light as a feather and great for playing around.
Back to my 2002 SRX..will start to tear apart the chaincase and remove jackshaft to see where the slight play is in it...either the shaft or the bearing clutch side. Also will go back to 144 studs on the Pred. Track. Will start on this end of August into September. All 3 sleds will be ready in time for the snow..which I hope shows up early and plentiful....yeah right..lol

Argh, nearly done with the Enticer. Everything is lubed and installed, except the shock. It's a PITA to compress and get into place. I haven't figured out a solution yet, so I tossed it onto the work bench and called it a night. Perhaps tomorrow I will compress the shock (it takes all my weight) and run a few strands of welding wire around the ends to hold it at the compressed length. Then maybe I can get it into place.
However.... Other than that, my trailer has new tires, it's painted, and all I need to do is fill up the jerry cans with some fresh gasoline and everything will be ready to go!

That shock nearly kicked my ***. It took me several hours to finally drive the crosspins home. In the end, I used a floor jack to push the shock up into the underside of my heavy workbench, compressed the shock, and then wire-tied it in the compressed state. Then I put in the crosspins. It was a PAIN trying to get the lower cross pin in there, as the shock lower bushing seemed to be twisted, so that I couldn't get the crosspin al the way through. It took a lot of sweating and squirming, but the crosspin finally went in with the help of a screwdriver as a prybar.
The snowmobile now has a much improved suspension, with cross-rods that are ACTUALLY LUBRICATED. It looks as if those rods were made of untreated hot-rolled steel rod, and it looks as if they were never lubricated, not even once. Well I have one grease zert installed, and will put in a couple more next summer when I go through and replace the hyfax pieces. The best news is that now I can actually actuate the suspension! Last year it was rock hard, and didn't seem to like moving at all. In fact, last year my daughter got bounced off the back of the sled by a violent bump that jumped the back of the sled into the air. Hopefully its a little more compliant now.

I just got the seat for the Excel V back from the upholsterer and it's beautiful! Now the Excel is ready to go, just have to hook up the battery and it'll be ready to blow snow off the track.
The Enticer is also parked on it's pallet, with a new seat and freshly rebuilt suspension! All it needs is a battery, and I think a bolt for the corner of the windscreen, (plus some loc-tite.)
The trailer is also done: Fresh paint, new tires.
Lastly, I am now fixing up a cutter sleigh to pull behind the snowmobiles this season. One of the things I want to do this year is ride across the straights of Mackinac, leaving from Cheboygan and riding over to Bois Blanc Island. Maybe over Christmas/New Year. Has anyone done that on this forum before?
