#$%&* Hey good day guy's/gal's.Pulled my skid out of my Venture and found disappointment again!!!Last winter I had to replace the center shock mount(135.00new),to my disbelief the damm thing is bent!!The original one was broke off where it mounts to the rails. Also there were no bushings left on the rail mounts of the W-arm.I can't keep replacing this mount there has to be a problem have any of you out there had this happen????I had my shock set over half on the cam would this cause this? The W-arm is cracking on the weld on one side!Am I doing something wrong with my adjustments on my suspension?Get back to me thank's, you guy's on forum help lots.Thank's!

proaction skid's are hard on w-arms when they are jumped/ridden over rough terrain. if you are a groomed trail rider then something is seriously out of adjustment.

ill admit i know just enough to get into trouble but how is the transfer set with you in riding position on the sled?

I have had this issue before but only when using a srx spring on a long travel sled.

I am going to ask a dumb question, only because I have seen it before, is the w arm in upside down? strap adjusters need to be on the top.

what spring you running on it?

great repair by the way crew cheif

Hey thank's Maim,no my trails are not of the smooth groomed style, they are typical bush and lake bumps!,there is some smooth out there.I'm trying to learn this Venture as Yama's suspension is completely different in set up.Have to learn this, forum has helped lots for info on adlusting.

BETHEVIPER; thank's good question. No the w-arm is in right, the front (center) shock/spring is original but I think it got seriously got pounded one time as the rubber is almost gone on the shock shaft! The spring I'm not sure which one you ask of?As for the rear I had to change the combo and no dealer had one for a 600 but had one for the 500.It was bottoming on me at the # 5 setting on the cam.So today I spoke with Yamaha Ca. and a rep said there are opotional shock/spring combo's I can go with.I just wanted a combo for more wieght capabilities,so when you load the sled with gear and yourself/passanger that the damm thing isn't sitting on the ground like it was doing for me, well not that bad but if you hit some drifts on the lake she was banging or in the bush I could hear and feel it banging and bottoming!!!

do a little research on here for the part # but it sounds like you need the big boy spring for your sled. or the stockers are really weak. are they origonal?

If it has the cam style spring adjuster on it it si a stock hyd shock. get rid of it and put a aluminum KYB in its place. Viper Dave has a big boy spring for sale that will also help a ton. If you are bottoming it out that much the w arm is going to break. The center shock if stock is also a hyd steel shock and too needs replaced. if you find a set of the stiff viper rears, they would work perfect. Maxdlx

Thank's maxdlx! I spoke with a yamaha customer service rep and they said that the shocks were a non serviceable gas.As for application the 500 rear shock fits but would not work properly in my 600,too soft, hence the bottoming! They gave me an optional shock/spring combo for that machine which means that the spring rate is higher and the shock is valved different. Also what do you mean by BADBOY spring? What's the rates on it?I'm also working on a set of shocks/springs from a member who owns a Viper. Thanks guy's .

They BIG BOY spring is a 5.3/ 3.5 spring. It is the heaviest one you can find. Don't buy new Yamaha shock/springs, you can get used and have them revalved for half price. Get a hold of Viper Dave he doesn't need that spring anymore. Maxdlx
