Nice sled for the wife - basically a viper with a non powervalve 600 motor which is pretty much bullet proof.

14-15 mpg is common for trail riding with that 600, probaly even better than that under certain condtions.

The SX Venom is basically an SX 600R in SX Viper trim, so anything that has been said about the SX 600R also goes for the SX Venom.
I dont really think they changed much of anything from 1 year to the next, but there definetly arent any, "bad years" for this sled.
Its a typical Yamaha: quality, reliability, dependability, good gas milage.

I've got one and love it. Put some AAEN triples on it, and she rips pretty good. I get 12 mpg up here in the UP with it. I junked the stock non rebuild shocks with some from Pioneer and It drives like a dream when I found the right set up. Aftermarket transfer rods and that was it. I always wish it had more power. But no one ever leaves me in the dust.

No doubt. With triples pipes I bet that sled can hold its own against any 600 or 700 (except for maybe an F7).VenomMod said:I've got one and love it. If it is for your wife, leave it stock, put gas & oil in it and drive for years & years & years.......
It's a real bonus to have electric start and reverse on a wifes sled so they don't get stuck and can start their own sled. Just my 2 centsTriple X said:If it is for your wife, leave it stock, put gas & oil in it and drive for years & years & years.......
well thats kinda of what i was thinking myself. easier for her and less hassel for myself lol.

Never had electric start or reverse on a sled, thought they were for wussies... untill I bought my 06 Apex ER, I will never buy another sled without them! I took for granted the SX Venom came stanard with both.
