i can get a hauck powersports boost bottle for a srx from a guy on here and i am wondering if it will fit on my viper or has anyone else put a boost bottle on a viper. i have never heard of a boost bottle on a viper. also the same question for reed spacers! will reed spacers make a difference on my viper?
boost bottle will give you a small amount on the bottom end. I ran one because it makes your tunnel much cleaner. keeps the spitback to the airbox to a minimum. on the non powervalved motors it is a good power gain.

so a boost bottle really isn't nessisary on a srx? i'm not 100% sure what a boost bottle is exactly, i'm looking for anything i can put on my sled that will benefit its perfromance that doesn't require a rediculous amount of attention
ive read that a boost bottle compensates for pressure diffrence between the cylinders.so when one cylider goes up and the reeds close the unspent fuel transfers to the other cylider that has the reeds opening and provides a better fuel charge and waste less fuel.i think thats why betheviper said it keeps the tunnel clean because instead of backing out the carbs into the air box its sucked back into the engine.correct me if im wrong.lastly i added one to a polaris 600 and had good results,the milage went up 1 mpg!and the engine seemed to have better throttle response.
the above is correct. not sure on the fuel milage.
spitback happens at the point where the crank case transfers from vaccum to preasure. for a split second the reed valves are not quite closed and a small amount of fuel, air, oil mixture is pushed back through the reeds past the carb into the air box. a split second later that mixture is pulled back into the motor and it all happens again. the oil in the mixture is sticky and stays stuck on the sides of the air box, only the gas and air get sucked back in. this is a tiny amount of oil but after a while it builds up and runs down the box and out the tunnel.
with a boost bottle in front of the carbs, the spitback happens at the same time another cylinders crank case goes to vaccum. this sucks the spitback into the boost bottle and back into the other cylinder, then the next one then the next and so on. this process lets very little gas,air,oil mixture past the carbs.

Does the boost bottle replace the air box?
It basically connects the intake runners between the carbs and the reed valves with an expansion chamber. Thus the boost bottle is after the carbs whereas the air box is ahead of the carbs.
Works like described above and similar to a tuned exhaust pipe only on the other end. The charge that gets kicked back goes into the boost bottle and creates a little supercharge for the next intake to open. A bit tricky because the extra pressure can actually open the reed valves a little early.
The design of the intake path on the Viper and SRX (largely possible due to the power valves) render the benefit negligible for the most part. I have heard of small benefit as suggested to the low end.

Is there somewhere I could go on the web to actually see one of those things in action. I understand what you are saying about it and how it works but I'm fairly new to the snowmobile world and I have never seen one of these before. Are they very expensive? They sound like a good improvment to a sled for alittle fuel economey and carb and air box life.
the one that i bought for my polaris was from hot seat performance.i think hauck racing still offers it for a srx?its basically a plate that goes between the reed block and the cylinder that has a hollow nipple at the top.the actual bottle is like a inch and a half pvc tube about 10 inches long capped on both ends.it has 2 down tubes that go into the nipple coming off the plate.its real simple-no moving parts at all.

my buddy had one on his '98 600 srx and '00 srx and no gain. did jack $h!t. and you even have to swith over your intake boots (you run 500 sxr boots) and you have to do some modifications to the tors wire/sensor. not worth it in my book. not to mention its only a piece of square tubing w/3 little pieces of pipes that come off of it, to connect into the boots. something you could make in 1/2 hrs time. just my .02

swede, don't waste the money on the boost bottle. what you would spend on the boost bottle, would give you some good clutching components, that would give you more of a gain.

I am already clutched and geared along with a 136" track setup.I am just looking for a little more if it could be done reasonably with the boost bottle.

look into pipes if you don't have any already and look at reed spacers and thin head gasket if not done already. that will give you a little boost for little $. if you want to go cheaper, notch your upper reed stopper. if you are good with porting tools, or have some, you can port your motor yourself, for the cost of a race logic template, or i believe turk has some port specs posted in the tech pages.
